I refuse to watch an IRL race or like them because of the separtion they(Tony George) created in indycar racing. It was negative for everbody involved.

Agreed, T.G. singlehandedly destroyed open wheel racing in the U.S. Last real Indy 500 was 1995 I believe. Only reason I will watch it this year is Danica.

Being a local to Laguna Seca I'm kinda peeved at the change of venues this year for the ChampCar race. Moving it to the streets of San Jose was an economic decision of course but I won't attend. It will be too hot, too crowded, difficult parking, no cool breezy hillsides to hang out on, etc. I don't want to bake on a metal grandstand for a small view of a slow track. Oh well, the Historics and American LeMans Series will be coming up at Laguna soon enough. Maybe ChampCars will be back next year.

I, as you, have not watched an IRL race, ever. I have banished my Andretti hats and shirts to the rag bin. Took my Penske posters off my garage wall. Will buy an Ohlins, not a Penske shock for my bike. Won't buy and S2000 no matter how nice they may be at turning left and right. Even Ashley Judd is somewhat less of a star to me. I even wrote a nasty note to Mario about his son being a sell out before my wife made me take it out of the Andretti Winery notes to Mario box. I also think TG is the anti-Christ of American motor racing.

Honestly i really dont care if they ever have an LBGP in the future. I went this year and it has turned into nothing more than a surfer version of NASCAR.

Racing in the US has become a sad state of affairs when all it has become an excuse to hang out and get drunk. Spectators dont go for the racing they go for the party atmosphere.

...and I thought I was the only ChampCar fan here. :)

The end of the IRL is nigh. Start chilling the champagne.

The month of June should be very interesting. Predictions: Toyota will formally leave IRL for NASCAR. Honda will not support a series where they are the only engine supplier. IRL = out of options.

Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerry Forsythe are REAL businessmen that have shown what a fool Tony George is.

    Good guys?

CART cancelled the Texas race an hour before it was scheduled to start and screwed an entire racetrack full of fans. All that due to poor planning and a lack of testing. They can rot as far as I'm concerned.

What channel are they on these days? Espn 8, "The Ocho" ?

That was the old CART. You can thank Bobby Rahal for the Texas debacle.

Most of the old guard has been purged. Texas would not have happened with the current leadership.

Oh pleeeaaaasssse say it is...I can't stand IRL and too, have never watched a race (if you wanna call that racing). They look like underpowered cars on an oversized oval, all going flat out, making it merely a "bench test" for the engines. Don't waste my time.

I hope 'Champ Car racing' piece-by-piece get themselves together like some kind of unkillable beast, and in the end is the only series between the two surviving.

While that was Rahal and the old guard, there were safety concerns for that race. Drivers were feeling dizzy after a few laps. They had a meeting and asked the drivers how many drivers had felt any sort of unusualy dizziness durin practice and all but 4 raised thier hands if memory serves. If that race had started it was a potential disaster. What they should have done was run the race on the infield part of the road course but Bruton Smith in all his wisdom didn't want that, so the fans got screwed. An ugly situation all around but it could have become potentially worse. And to DMC you are not alone...............;)
