From our FCA DFW President: Many of you know of Enzo Ferrari's first son Dino and many more of you learned of him after the movie came out last year. Sadly, Dino Ferrari who inspired his namesake the Dino 246, ultimately passed due to a type of muscular dystrophy called Duchenne. Through the rest of his lifetime Enzo Ferrari established a center and organization dedicated to his death dedicated to helping finding a cure. This illness affects roughly 1 out of 5000 boys and shows up during ages 3-5. You may wonder why I'm choosing this somber topic for this morning's email but it was brought to my attention that a young man in Dallas in Highland Park actually has this awful disease and yet is beating the odds year after year. His grandmother reached out to me and connected me with the National Foundation and even through I wasn't sure what I would be well enough to do I promised her that we would ABSOLUTELY do what we could as a club to bring awareness to her grandson's condition and if all we have to do is bring out some cool cars and enjoy some cool events to help bring awareness to the foundation and the condition that it would be our honor to do so to help her grandson and so many more young boys who suffer from this tragic condition at such a young age. We can help find a cure and what cooler way to help find a cure than to drive Ferrari's and share our passion with those who deserve it from us the most?!?! RIGHT! So all of this to say that there is an event on October 3rd and I will be sharing more info about that soon. Many of you know Deborah Hartigan and have frequented her gallery, she has graciously offered up her space for this great cause and I have it on good information that we have wine being donated and some of Dallas best chefs will be serving up great eats and well we owe it to Dino, we owe it to Enzo, we owe it to our love of Ferrari and we owe it to young Shepard to show up, enjoy and support this great cause!
