84! US car? Fuel Injected? Im trying to do a registry of the very very rare REAL US 2 valve cars. Only 12-15 made. Each one with differences including 3 different front bumpers and 2 different rear bumpers.
Ya i did alot of research and talked to Mr. Thomas from Lamborghini USA who was in charge during those years. LATE 1984 and EARLY 1985 cars were the ONLY FACTORY Fuel Injected 2 valve Countachs. Records show that only 15 were made. I have only found 8... There were alot of 1983 and 1984 US cars but NOT factory Fuel Injected. They were done at Nastasi Imports and made "US" Spec.
Speaking of which, I guess some of us have sold our souls and others haven't. Great pics and this discussion has been great fun. I appreciate everyone's wit and good sense of humor. Let me post my dream car so that we can all understand why I so easily sold my soul... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, the price to your soul is relatively cheap. I for one would have never sell my soul for a car, for the health of another family member yes, but not for a car, Lamborghini or not Lamborghini.
AJ, with all due respect, I must say that I am very disappointed in you. This is the best you can do? Is this what you mean by getting the juices flowing? A mere quote from a magazine from 1999, and "The Dupont Registry" to boot? I was expecting something earth-shattering that will end this thread once and for all. Give us Miura fans a bone with some meat on it to chew on here, not something as lame as a quote or a poll conducted by some snobby magazine from 1999. Like you said yourself, the poll was probably more bias toward modern cars and the Diablo was still relatively new in 1999. For every quote, there will be another quote to counter it. For every magazine that is pro your beloved Diablo, there will be another that is anti-Diablo, thus a endless and not to mention pointless to use the "Back in 19XX, some editor in XX magazine said..." If anything at all, this is more of an excuse than anything else. Has Lambocars.com ever did any comparo test among all the key Lambo cars? As in pitting the Miura, Countach, Diablo and the Murcilago against each other, all in one shot? With the main emphysis on not just finding the "best car" but finding the best as in the most significant Lamborghini, the one that had the greatest impact in the automotive industry. Now, that will be something worthy of a quote.
I was saying sold my soul because of Diablo = Devil, not because I literally tried to sell my soul for a Diablo. If I really had sold my soul for a Diablo, I got screwed because I sure don't have a Diablo to show for it...
You wrote alot to say nothing.......CAR OF THE CENTURY BABY!!!! And I would love to see some other credible mag polls, if you have any specifics...post 'em. And no, this isn't what I meant when I said to get the juices flowing. However, as a result we have some cool pics, and more senseless Miura banter.
I'm actually a bit surprised how well the Miura is doing in this poll. This site definately caters to the newer Lamborghinis. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey, meaningless post deserves a meaningless reply. And you are right. Diablo is the car of the century, the 18th Century relatively speaking that is. There is really nothing really new or advance about it, unlike the Miura, which started the mid-engined exotic sportscar era. And if you deny that from the Miura, you have pretty much denied Lamborghini from its place within the automotive history.
Aren't that the TRUTH. I am surprised that there weren't more people standing up for the Miura before I started to posted in this thread. Perhaps the so called "intimitation" that Ryan Alexander speaks of before is coming more from the Diablo camp instead of the Miura. This site is ultra-pro Diablo, like AJ said, "Car of the Century". *LOL*
Talk to your friend Mr. Alexander first then, I wasn't the one that brought it up. Hate the message, but don't shoot the messager.
Actually, cars weren't invented in the 17th century. As you can tell, I am an avid historian. In regards to the impact of the Diablo, I would argue that it is much broader than simply Lamborghini. The Diablo defined the supercar for years, and in many ways still does. It was Lambo's first car to pass the 200 mph mark. There are some things that come from more than numbers, but you can't really argue that. I think time will tell, so we'll see. Maybe when the Diablo fans' chest hair grows gray and we walk around with canes and walkers like all of the Muira fans, we can discuss the impact as time as passed. Until then, I would call this a gridlock.
In looking at these pictures, i've come to the following conclusion. 1. The Diablo is beautuful from each and every angle 2. The Miura is beautiful from only the front and side viewing angles. just my opinion, Diablo is king of the world!
Yes A.J. I still have that issue of Dupont Registry. The mighty Diablo was indeed voted the #1 car of the 20th century! But remember that the Ferrari F40 and the Testarossa also ranked in the top 10. Actually the Testarossa was #10. That makes me smile....
To be honest with you, I loved the TR. Had one every year starting in 85, and going through 89. Was actually hunting for a yellow car a little while back.......no luck though. Had that F40 also, should have kept that one. Sold it soon after the Diablo came onto the scene.
I found what Anthony and Muira J were smoking, tried some, and had a revelation about what the poll will look like when it closes! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've actually been suprised at the strong showing of the Miura in this pole, given the hype and exposure in the media of the Countach/Diablo for the past 30-odd years. The later cars certainly look EXTREME, which makes for an easy sell for the rag (not that that actually detracts from the capabilities of the car.) But looking with a critical eye, all I can say is: The Diablo will certainly help you get sex, but the Miura is better than sex. (And allow me cut you off in advance, I don't mean lousy sex.)
I bet this guy has never seen a Miura in the flesh otherwise is unavoidable to fall under it's spell.
