Hi, In my 348 TS the battery is located in the back on the left side. The battery is dead and I want to change it by myself but have no idea how. Do I have to extract the back wheel or the bumper? Would be great if someone has a detailed instruction. Thank you all in advance Marc
Hey mate, You can jack it up and remove the rear wheel to make it easy. But I am a big strong dude and I lift it out from the top. Remove the top battery cover, remove the battery terminals, remove the battery hold down clamp and lift the battery out. It's a little heavy, but not a big task.
Hi, and thank you for your quick replay. That was exactly what i did but the battery is too big and I can not get it out. So I will try the option with removing the rear wheel.... Cheers Marc
I've never been able to get the battery out through the top. Either I don't have the strength for it, or I didn't think I had the clearance, etc etc... So for me it's the alternative method: 1. Jack up the left rear and remove left rear wheel. 2. Remove the rear half of the "wheel well" cover. 3. Slide the battery out through the wheel well. It sounds like that is exactly what you're trying...
You need one of these http://www.braillebattery.com/index.php/batteries/b3121. It'll take about 20 lbs or so from the weight off your current battery, but you'll give up some cold cranking amps. I have one and it works fine in my car. Also heard that lifespan is shorter but mine is only 3 mos old so it'll be a few years before I'll know for sure.
If you can't phyiscally get it out, then someone has fit a larger battery in there from underneath. Not a problem, just have to jack it up mate and remove the wheel etc.etc. Have fun Marc.
So, what is the correct replacement battery size? Mine old one was group 34 Interstate. I replaced it with group 34 Bosch. I was able to pull it out from the top and put a new one in from the top. I must say it is very difficult to do it from the top, but still very possible.
Thank you for all your support. I tried the version to remove the left rear wheel and the cover... At the end it was very easy to get the old one out and the new one in. Thank you all Marc
