Hmmmm? Changed from the 20-23rd of May.

I wonder if we will be hearing an announcement regarding Turkey and Canada. Canada, of course, yet to be confirmed....and the teams having objections to the tinming of the Turkish GP.

Screwed my Historic reservation - hotel has been blocked out !

Thanks Bernie - actually I think the date change has been driven by the hotels as they got a load of Historic bookings before they put the rates up.....

Just heard about this early today when my hotel e-mailed to ask if I wanted to move my GP reservation up one week. Those of you looking for a scarce room in MC proper may want to check around- perhaps the date change will free up rooms reserved by folks who can't make it the week before, although I suspect most will still want to come. Glad I don't book my flights until late in the year!

Now the F1 race will coincide with the Mille Miglia... anyone know when the RM Ferrari auction will take place (if at all)?

Don't worry you aren't the only totally screwed by this! The Historic date had been firm along with the F1 date. I would be interested in the reason for thechange. I hope that the Turkey Gp date is not the reason. This certainly has upset the apple cart big time.

Thank you mr eccelstone, where do we send you the bill for all the expenses we've incurred by your stupid f1 schedule?? looks like he screwed the principality of Monaco too since the local shops are closed the Thursday prior to the revised race date! ! ! ! I just got off the phone with the folks in the UK from whom we purchase our Historic tickets, comment was it's definitely the correct date, although the FIA who initiated the date change doesn't show it on their website as of right now, this is the first time the date has been changed!

The date of the 2010 Monaco Grand Prix will be a week earlier than originally scheduled to help ease concerns about next year's race calendar.

Although the date-change from the provisionally scheduled May 23 is yet to be confirmed either by Bernie Ecclestone's organisation or by the FIA, the Automobile Club de Monaco is now reporting that the 2010 event will take place on May 16.

The change will give teams more time to travel between the famous Principality and the next grand prix destination, Turkey, scheduled for May 30.

The news also all but confirms that Formula One will return to Canada next year.

Another possible solution to the Monaco-Turkey problem was that the latter race could be delayed by a week if Ecclestone's talks with Montreal race promoters did not come to fruition.

The fact that Monaco is having to be held a week early indicates that the Turkey date switch could not take place, ostensibly because Canada's June 13 race date is now set in stone.

The Monaco Grand Prix is traditionally held on the Sunday after the week of Ascension Day. In 2010, Ascension Day is May 13, which means that local shops will now be closed on the Thursday (practice day) before the race.

No problem... I'm sure Bernie is asking the Vatican to change Ascension Day...

Now Monaco will no longer fall on the same day as the Indianapolis 500...maybe eventually it will be viable for F1 drivers to take part in both historic races.

two years ago I don't recall any "current" F1 drivers driving at the Historics - it was for the most part the guys who own the cars - Duncan Dayton (Patron Highcroft ALMS) had a couple of his cars and he did quite well, as in winning, in some of the classes.

Positive note, the hotel moved our pre-paid reservation to the updated date for the Historics at same rate......wonder how fortunate the F1 attendees have been with theirs? airfare was a different story......

    Carol,

I believe Andrew was referring to Indy & Monaco when he stated "historic races".

    Best,

You're correct Steve - I am thinking of the real Historic races as in real historic cars...the Monaco Historics.
