How easy would it be to convert the 348 guage dials to 355 ones? It looks like the same except for the faces. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sy, just buy a 355...... You will not regret it 355's are awesome!!!! However, if you find a gauge cluster I am sure a good speedo shop will be able to sort out the 2 into to one, if it is not just a plug and play. Don't forget you will need to change the gauges in the center console to match. Another, possibly cheaper option would be to have new faces made for your factory cluster. I have seen this done with great results.
I always liked the red/orange gauge numbering in my 3X8s. They look "racy". I'd just keep them the way they are, it fits the period of the car.
Probably same size dials, but I have a feeling the plugs on the back are different. I forget why, but I think I have seen the speedo head from both of them once before and the plug size/shape was different on the back. I could be wrong though and be thinking of something else. But nothing a good auto sparky couldnt sort out for you.
You can just swap the dials if you get damaged 355 instruments. Or you can make a good picture from every instrument photoshop it a bit and let a dialshop print out a set of good dials. I made pictures of my instruments and colored the orange to white and print it out on photopaper it looks ok but a real dialpaper would be better.
Sy: One additional issue to consider is compatibility of the 348 sending units with the F355 gauges. You should probably only consider the gauges from the 1995 F355 Motronic 2.7 cars, as these will have a higher probability of being compatible with the 348.
Once again ....... you make perfect sense James !!!! ............. though from what I have seen so far ......... Sy does not have the stones to own a 355 ..............
