    Hi all,

I've got a small collection of Ferrari VHS tapes that I'm trying to replace by the same items but in DVD format. For example I've replaced my VHS video of Victory By Design with the DVD version.

I've e-mailed some publishers/studios asking if they had any plans to re-issue old VHS items into DVD format but so far most of them don't. For example the Goodwood Festival and Revival videos will not be converted to DVD.

Still searching for replacements I was trying to find out if the VHS videos by Ferrari World (Hyde Park Media) about several Ferrari types are available in DVD format. I have the videos of the 365 GTB/4, Dino 246, 288 GTO and F40. So far no luck in trying to locate Ferrari World or Hyde Park Media. Does anyone know? Thanks.

The same questions applies to the video from the Maranello Rosso collection (Fabrizio Violati in San Marino). Is this now available in DVD format? Thanks again.

You could try getting a TV Tuner and copying them digitally to your computer. As long as you don't publically share them I don't think copyright infringement is an issue since you already own the tapes.

Thanks. I did buy a Pinnacle Dazzle device with which I can connect my VCR to my computer but I've discovered many downsides to this. First of all it's very time consuming and secondly the quality of the result is below par. So I would like to avoid this method as much as possible and only use it for my own tapes (unless there's a device out there that gives good results - The Pinnacle Dazzle isn't).

Thanks, I might just do that (hand't thought about that!) Any noticable loss in quality?

I bought an A/D converter and copy the VHS tapes to Mini DV, which allow to transfer and edit the footage on the PC and then burn a DVD. Time consuming yes, but not much of a loss of quality.

I only do this when I really need a DVD. For all intents and purposes I keep my VHS tapes.

IIRC Hyde Park Media went out of business years ago. 'Ferrari World' still exists in Germany but I don't know if it is owned by HPM but I doubt it. An internet search might throw something up.
I haven't seen their videos in DVD format.
Also there are companies that will turn your VHS into DVD. It's not expensive and there are quite a few selling their services on Ebay.
    Hope this helps

A route I tried out before putting together my own setup. The annoying thing with these places is often that they don't take copyrighted material. Not even for home use.

Thanks for all the replies. Today I borrowed a DVD recorder and it worked fine! Very quick and very good quality. Even in SP mode (two hours on one DVD instead of one hour in the XP mode) the result is still very acceptable.
