when I change the battery do I have to worry about any codes such as the radio code or the alarm code, because my car didn't come with the original books. Plan on doing this tomm.

yes...the radio will ask for a code and will stay locked until you enter it. and when you start the car for the first time after the battery replacement, turn the key to the on position and wait around 60 secs for the motor electronics to reset and do a self learn before starting, then let warm up and idle for approx 30 mins

there is a way around this if you don't have a code. you need to buy an adapter that runs on a battery and plugs into your cigarette lighter so your electrical system stays charged enough to hold settings

The dealer changed mine 360 by doing a parralel battery vhsnge. This was so the car never lost power. The dealer mechanic said if you lose batttery in addition to the radio will forget how to run well. They told me you can change it like a reqular car but it will not dribe well as you go to the dealer to have the cpu connected to relearn. Heaid the 360's have a flashcard not an inbeded chip that retains itd memories. He said they have a capacity that hold its flashcard memory for 30 minutes but he has seen rhem not work many times. He did not chatge me any more for the batery it is just the way he did it.

I also hsve a Lambo Galardo and the mechanic ( different guy) did it the same way he also punched in some codes after the battery was changed.

Everything is correct until that last part. Do not let the car sit for 30 minutes idling. Let the car warm up for a couple of minutes max, then go drive it.

Yes, the idling procedure was only for the 348 as I can remember.

hey ray, the reason i said 30 mins was this quote from a post that had a problem and it was solved following this advise. i wonder if 10 or 30 mins really makes a difference other than burning more fuel.

    Quote:
After fully disconnecting the battery you need to leave the engine to idle for at least 30 minutes to 're-learn' the engine parameters.

This re-learning includes allowing the engine computers to adjust ignition to the current condition of your spark plugs among other things such as state of engine internals, etc. Give it some time to idle, if your still having problems after 30 minutes idling you may have an early version of the ECU software which could mean you need a software upgrade. This was much more prevalent on the early software of the CS rather than the Modena so I'm guessing you just need to wait a while.
I let the engine idle for 30 mins, switched it off, locked the car and left it for 10 mins. Upon opening the door the pump primed as usual so I started the engine up and took it out for a spin - all good.

    Thanks for all the advice!
