Just picked up my 308 last week and when I got it she had a bad oil leak from the distributor. Did some searching and found a lot of people said change the O-ring but never found pictures of how to do it........I'm kind of a picture type guy........so when I tore it apart, I snapped some pictures for anyone else that likes to see what it looks like or how it comes apart.

Previous owner said he replaced the seal in the housing a few times to no avail, so I knew there had to be more to it.

Brief discription on how to do it: Remove cap, take out the allen bolt that holds the rotor on the shaft (I used a 3mm allen wrench), remove the 3 allen bolts that hold the housing to the side of the head, turn engine over until the pin is facing in a way you can hit the pin with the bunch easily, start driving the pin out. You may need to remove the cam or support the end so no damage occurs, mine came out using short easy blows without a problem, I had a old rotor that I put back on the end of the shaft, then grabbed it with pliers and twisted and pulled till it came out, wasn't easy, I went to Ace and picked up a O-ring that fit, pushed the rotor shaft back in till only a 1/2 inch was exposed, then applied lock tight to the end and pushed it all the way back in, don't know if this will help but read some where someone had epoxy theirs on......so new o-ring and just in case a little lock tite to seal it, drove the pin back in, assembled everything and no more oil leak.

This is how I did it, may be the wrong way but I was going to a cruise in and needed to get it back together.

I hope this helps someone in the future that wants to do the work themselves!!

Had to throw a picture of both my cars in at the end! I have to replace the rear wheels bearing now so I'll be back with more pictures and maybe get them in order this time!!
