Hello 348 Owners, I'm trying to locate a new Charcoal Canister, part #138419 Already checked Ricambi, T Rutlands, FerrParts, Eurospares, Vail's All Ferrari Parts and the Ferrari dealership network. Please PM me if you have a spare to sell or if you locate one for sale. Thank you, Jonathan
Yes, the vapor filter is a maintenance item. Owner's manual requires replacement at 52,500 miles. However, I wouldn't let it go that long.
Following this thread with a bit of interest. Can anyone advise - if the canister is a service item (@52,500) - would there be any "symptoms" of a canister still on a car but passed its sell by date as it were. Would the car just get a bit whiffy ? Reason I ask - my 2.7 has just clocked 54k and I'm damn sure that the canister won't have been changed !!. Many thanks Laurence
A dirty filter will cause pressure when you remove the gas cap and difficulty filling up. Also additional air pollution will escape the tank. There is a thread on this topic were the op claims his gas tank collapsed or imploded due to pressure.
Here's Ernie's thread on the purge valve and canister http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technical-q-sponsored-algar-ferrari/241642-348-vapor-canister-purge-valve-removal.html A possible source here: 348 / Mondial T : Fuel Anti-Evaporator Canister Device - FerrariChat.com And a rebuild here (308?): http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/138834361-post14.html
According to my mechanic, a check engine or warning light may go off if the filter is not the exact specifications. It would be good to know if the suggested Fiat part was easy to install and avoided warning lights.
