With the weather taking a turn here in PA, I wanted to get the car on a tender that I purchased (CTEK MXS 5.0). However, when I went to connect it with the clips, it appears the negative terminal was not connected to the 'proper' terminal in the compartment. I removed the one cover hoping to have better access but, as you can see from the pics, not really possible. Unless I'm approaching this incorrectly. Do you have any recommendations or should I purchase the adapter (providing I can find one) for the tender to attach to the port in the trunk?

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

There should be a plug in the trunk to plug the tender into assuming you have correct fitting

That’s the thing, I only have the clips the tender came with that clip to the terminals. The special adapter for the trunk I don’t have…

I'm not sure about the California, is it the magnetic adapter? https://www.cccharger.co.uk/ctek-charger-cables

In that case I believe there is a remote negative terminal in the engine compartment near the battery.. I am not in the same city as my cali to look at that but perhaps someone can chime in…sorry ..by the way if you can find a plug it maybe available separate then you can hook it the tender up through the trunk,,which is very handy..

    My 458 uses a 4 pin adapter in the passenger foot well, I've bought https://www.cccharger.co.uk/product-page/ctek-ferrari-4-pin-charger-adapter-cable. They say: "Models Include 360 / 430 / 456 / 458 / California / 550 / 599 / 612 / F12 / and many many others too." I've also bought the magnetic connector for my wife's Portofino M from them.

I think I know what you’re referring to, but it seems the last battery that was installed, didn’t utilize the remote negative terminal.

I think I found one here in the states but I’m waiting to hear back from a Ferrari service center if I have options before buying it

FWIW, spoke with a master technician and they had me attach the negative clip to a post on the cross member that the negative wire attaches to from the battery. After doing this, I powered on the CTEK tender, set it to AGM and all appears to be well. Now I'm curious as to the pros/cons of the trunk adapter.
This was the adapter I was looking at https://normalguysupercar.com/products/ctek-to-ferrari-4-pin-square-adapter

Looks identical the one I bought for my 458: https://www.cccharger.co.uk/product-page/ctek-ferrari-4-pin-charger-adapter-cable. For £38.50 (I think about $50) I'm actually going to order another for my 458 to have as a backup in case I break the one I have. I added an 8 foot extension cord from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ADIHUVG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

The one for the Cali looks like the adaptor I have for my '11.
In my case, I lucked out, the dealer had an extra lying around and let me have it

Using the trunk adapter disables the ability to start the car and accidentally drive away without disconnecting the clips, and avoids risk of a clip sparking from a battery terminal and igniting any built up gases.
