Agreed very much on the last bit. The moment they have the new TP he should do a Vettel/Schumacher. Practically live at the factory.

Ferrari's only shot at a title if Leclerc was to leave is to get Verstappen but it'll be at a ridiculous price.

Ferrari has to build him a better car; that's all there is to it. Drivers don't design cars !

Leclerc could spend winter sleeping on the floor in the workshop, it wouldn't make any difference.

Well, yes and no. They need to build a better car, yes, but he needs to show that he is involved - and understands how the team - individuals work and get them all focused on him. that is what the greats do - Stewart, Lauda, Prost, Senna, Schumacher, etc... they know everyone, they know their jobs, and they know where to push and pull... conversely = each of the team members feels they know the driver personally and has a stake in his success..... that is what I mean by being at the factory.... Nobody will care more about you and your car than you! .... if you don't demonstrate the intensiveness - nobody else will do so.

According to Mark Hughes in "Motorsport Magazine" today (I have no way to confirm on deny...) Leclerc is already ""looking beyond Ferrari", and there are rumors of a pre-agreement with Mercedes.
(Again: not saying this is true, or what; only quoting Mark Hughes, who is usually well informed, so FWIW...)

It would be a huge disappointment if true...though somewhat understandable. I would assume Leclerc is #1 option for post 23/24 assuming Lewis retires then.

There is no way Ferrari can get Max that quick.

Lando presumably Ferrari's only real option then.

Can you blame him? Leclerc must be feeling he is wasting his career at Ferrari. He is WDC material.

I agree that stability is needed. But I think we need competence first and then stability!

If you are already spending $140M to race and finish front of mid-field with ??$20M?? driver
AND the added $20M to get Max is not counted against the budget limitation
    Why NOT !!

Lauda explains this in his Book "Art and Science of Grand Prix Racing".
Basically, this is how you throw Good Money after Good Results.

I don't think they can get Max for anything less than 100.

He appears to be. He has not had to fight an entire season and win the title. He was too tentative in situations this year. As far as him pulling the team around him, they put a stop to that with Vettel and made it clear the drivers drive. There is no MS team collective at all. Charles is fast, and capable. Thats all I see for now. He does not yet show the Max or LH calibre of not making poorly timed mistakes. I hope this was his last year of doing so. Sainz still makes better in car strategy calls to the pit wall.

Compared to Sainz he does appear to drive around issues with the car better and appears to be a touch more adaptable vs Sainz. Sainz struggles for most of this year with the car vs his normal style of driving and was quite open about his challenges with it. Ricci-esque issues.

Hopefully Binotto leaving will shake up the team. Charles is certainly fast enough to win a title.

Having a TP leave, with no replacement for over a month; is like simply not having the team show up for work for an entire month.

I pity whomever they tap as TP.

If Charles broke with Ferrari - that would have made breaking news. A girlfriend? She must have got on his nerves ;P
