Last Sunday, i woke up with an intense pain in my left calf which lasted for a good 20 seconds until it stopped. When i left my bed, i couldnt use my legs as it hurt a lot, just standing on it. But throughout the day, the pain subsided, i drank a lot of water, ate bananas (potassium) and massaged/stretched a lot. But now, 3 days later, i can still feel my muscle, it's stiff/numb but not painful. I can walk without any problems...but can i work out?

I am also wondering if it's safe to go to the steam/sauna as i read that this pain/pulled muscle is often due to dehydration.

    Any ideas?

This sounds like a severe muscle spasm that actually tore some of the fibers.

Use common sense when it comes to working out on something like this. If it hurts or gets worse when you do something.... stop!

Have you tried wrapping the affected muscle?

Not yet. This night, i had the same feeling, like i was about to have another muscle spasm but it didnt happen. My whole calf muscle feels very stiff. Should i just massage it with tiger balm and let it rest or should i stretch it as i read in few places?

sounds like dehydration. make sure you drink enough fluids before you go to sleep.
