headlined a color photo and short blurb appearing in today's Orlando Sentinel, 8/26/2004, about the Medlin collection that's been discussed in past threads regarding personal Ferrari collections of note. Cars pictured appear to be an early '50s coupe (212?); 330GT 2+2; mid-50s 250GT; late 275 GTB(outside trunk hinges); 250 PF coupe; a F5000 or similar looking Indy car; maybe a F1 312 T-? (Jody Scheckter). The article didn't mention specific damage although the photo shows debris on top of all the cars. It did state that all cars have been moved.

In the same newspaper section, Ride, the weekly transportation/car advert. supplement, is a favorable road test on the 575M GTC, written by Steven Cole Smith, editor of Ride an Autoweek contributor and former Car & Driver writer/staffer. If you can find today's Orlando Sentinel, in print or on the web, it's worth looking at.

"These 19 cars -- 18 Ferraris and an Avanti -- used to be stored in a barn in Kissimmee, but Hurricane Charley took the barn and left the cars. The barn, not far from the home of reclusive businessman and car collector Walter Medlin, held part of Medlin's inventory of Ferraris when journalist Bill Warner visited in 1990 to do a magazine article. Then, Warner estimated the barn held $50 million to $60 million in vintage Ferraris. Valuable cars remain: Warner, surveying this photo, estimates that just 2 of the cars pictured, a Ferrari 275GTB and a Formula 1 race car, may be worth about $1.5 million together. All the cars have been moved. "

Were can I get a copy of that picture?

Damn, that was quick research on your part! It was a Sentinel photographer, Ed Sackett, that shot the photo. I'm sure there are links on the paper's website for reprints, photos. Good luck.

My scanner creates bpm or bmp files that I can't upload into F-Chat. So I took a digital picture of the newspaper page.

Speedy, I understand the cars were moved out of the theater a few years ago.

    Slim to none, per Sheehan.....

...and Slim just left the room......LOL!

He has kids, and no doubt these would be a nice inheritance. Or a huge burden, depending on your view..

He did sell IIRC two cars to settle an IRS judgement. P3 or P4...

    Walter's been up......and Walter's been down......

For a developer, I don't understand his storage method..

    Some cars identified:
166 Inter 023/S (where the barn doors appear to have been)
    250GT 0469GT (white shadow behind 023/S)
    365 GTC/4 (chassis only)
    330 GT 2+2 (4-headlights, s/n not known)
    410 Superamerica 0501SA
    275 GTB or 275 GTB/4 (s/n not known)
250 GT PF Coupe (note rare option: passenger headrest)
500 Mondial 0406MD (far right, already in a very bad shape, so the
visible damage was not caused by the storm!)

    Best wishes, Kare
