Yesterday at about 3 o'clock I was driving down highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) going towards Hope, BC. I was cruising with one of my buddies when I look in my rear view and see a BEAUTIFUL black murcielago. My friend dipped back and started to taunt the driver into racing a bit...and to my extreme surprise, HE DID!!!! Both pulled past me with insane power and heading on down a long straight section of the highway. This section is quite far out of town so not many cars were around. After a few short moments, I decided I couldn't be left out of this. I quickly followed in pursuit of the two which, when I caught up, were pushing 290 km/h. Coming into the mountains, things slowed down (obviously) but not by much, tearing through corners at an average of 190 things started to get rediculous but we kept pushing through cause some comfort was still present. This continued to Manning Park (ABOUT AN HOUR FROM WHERE WE STARTED OFF!!!) I dont know if the driver is on this site, but if he is....SHOW YOURSELF. haha
The moral of the story.....although he was beat by two of japan's finest, MURCIELAGO"S ARE FASTER THAN I THOUGHT!!! HOLY SH**!!!!!

    nice.

i don't think the murcielago driver will be pissed off about it tho, everyone knows the potential with skyline and rx7, its few of the cars in the world that is unlimited.

tho twin turbo a gallardo might just pull the trigger too.. :D

This wasn't a battle of top end was it? In most cases, modded imports can take out everything else downlow but once you past 150-160 the Murcie should have been neck and neck if not pulling away. I'm not familiar with the road you guys travelled or the mods you guys have so this could have been a top end battle that you guys owned. Just share some more specifics :)

It seemed to be a top end battle on the straight section of road which turned out to be, like you said, neck and neck however in the situation of a top speed comparison I think my car (my friends RX-7 is barely a 200 mph car) would still come out on top. In june a local car club had a speed trap set up to clock top speeds where my car put down an average run of 211.23 mph. If I'm correct, the murci tops out at 205?? The roads that took up the majority of this "race" were indeed windy and very intense to drive at such high speeds..all done with a smile on my face.

well...in some fairness, the rx 7 is w/ mods, can be very quick. it may need some more gear and lotsa ponies to pull 200mph...doable indeed. they are also twin turbo from the factory.

what was funny was when the commented that he did not know that murcis were that fast!

my thoughts were...EVERYONE THAT HAS EVER PICKED UP A CAR MAGAZINE KNOWS THEY ARE FAST!

that stupid comment make the skyline guy a clown!!!!

Well. If they pass you (while you're at 120km/h?) with insane power (> 80km/h?) and you caught up at 290km/h after a few short moments (5 seconds?), how true the story will be?

Sounds like BS or the Lambo wasn't on it that hard. The lambo should have smoked both of them on top end so badly that they would have never caught up unless he slowed down and let them. Sorry to break it to you, but he let you by you didn't run him down, he let you pass. I'd be more concerned about wrecking a 200k car doing something stupid than a Skyline or a RX7. I didn't know you could get a Skyline in north america other than a place in Cali inporting them. Where did you get it? Also what car club let you make top speed runs like that? I've never heard of one.

    Total BS...
Furthermore, neither rice burner would be able to sustain 200mph speed due to aerodynamics of the cars.

There are three possible factors that come into play on this story.

    1. cars like the 7 and the skyline potentially can put out alot of hp, but typically drag and gear limited

    2. murcie owner got scared about crashing his car....

    3. some guy trying to rattle the cage alittle...

can i ask where did you do this,
and what engine are you using on your GTR?
I have driven a few GTR, ranging from R32 to R34
and am very familiar with cars that have
been imported, both to canda and the US.

The Murchi was just playing with you, and I guess
he was just "pushing" to entertain,
    but it does sound BS

Did I say I didnt' know they were fast?? no....read it again...I said I knew they were fast, just not THAT fast. This statement has NOTHING wrong with it. Put it this way...everyone knows an enzo is fast, but you don't really know how fast until you experience it for yourself. (being blown away by one on the street, or seeing it at full chat is person) so like I said before...read it again. And remember kids, this is a great site, don't f**k it up for the rest of us with your stupidity

Thank you have a nice day

The motor is a single turbo RB30 (australian hybrid). If you don't know what it is, don't bull**** and say it's not real...that just means you need to broaden your horizons and figure out what it is. It redlines at 10,500 rpm due to a crank/rod balancing of within 0.5 grams. Pushing 27 psi of boost into the cylinders with 1000cc injectors feeding the needs to make it all go down the 4-inch turbo back in the form of exhaust gases. Any other mods I would be more than happy to list....

Alright, from what I can obviously see...the post wasn't taken in stride by anyone. In my honest opinion, I really don't care if you dont believe me, but do me this one favor. This is a car site, we all love cars and are here to speak on that exact topic. People are rarely bashed on this site, and when this does occur it's usually due to lack of knowledge by one party or the other. Saying that an "import" can not handle speeds of over 200 mph is possibly the stupidest thing you could say. Companies like Veilside, Abflug, Bennetec, Bee-R (should I list more??) provide aero-kits that shave seconds of track time and increase down-force exponentially. By posting this thread I meant no harm, or to make fun of anyone. I did it because it involved some of the greatest cars from two different car worlds (exotics and imports). I am a car guy just like the rest of ya, and will keep on posting here for as long as i'm interested in cars (for life considering I have pistons tattooed on my forearm..haha). My request is this, don't be closed minded. Although it may hurt, realize that there are other performance benchmarks out there other than ferraris and lambo's....thank you

I have no doubt that you can extract otherworldly levels of performance from certain japanese cars. The question becomes why this is relevant to a Ferrari or Lamborghini site. If your message is, essentially, despite all the money, hype and mystique associated with big bucks Italian exotics, they can still get smoked by something that is much cheaper and lower ranked on the food chain, I doubt you'll get many receptive ears here. If you have knowledge or questions about the cars to which these boards are devoted, by all means participate. I think you'll find this to be a welcoming place. If I was really interested in the japanese high performance aftermarket, I would certainly not be looking here for that discussion. What may be a legitimate topic elsewhere is going to be perceived as trolling here, no matter how good your intentions.

Sad thing is that there is nothing cheap about the Skyline. I don't know much abou them, but I believe they are around 100K for a nice one with all the EPA docs. Still half the price of a Murci, but about the same as a GT2. As we all know the GT2 is 10X what that Skyline will ever be.

in or out of context...you made a statement that was to illicit a ***** slap. you were trolling ...simply put.

and btw, there are lots of folks here that have held scca national, imsa, wera, ccs, and ama credentials that don't give a ***** about your car and how fast it is...some of us prefer to drive our version of a thoroughbred and simply like to cruise the blvd!

stop trolling and no more need to further explain your position and any further detail on your cars specs will not be required either. i'm sure its' quite quick.

    thanks, pcb

Skylines are around $30k in Japan, tbe reason they are expensive here is getting them federalized and other issues.

Concerning how the Skyline supposedly beat this Lambo that kind of stuff happens all the time when the exotic car driver was usually unaware he was actually in a race with someone and was just minding his own business driving down the road but the guy in the rice mobile was certain they were racing and going for it full speed thus scoring the "kill".
