By appearance and S/N, it is probably a M- or late L-series; knockoffs would be the correct wheel for the latter. Can't recall if M's still had knockoffs but I don't think so.
It'd definitely an "L" series car and originally would have had knock off wheels and the corresponding hubs and wheels. The steering wheel has been recovered (a bit thicker than original but the frame is correct) and the front bumpers are not original to the car. Forgive my scrutiny but I can't help myself! It's approximately the 95th "L" series 246GT to be built and the 9th 246GT built in 1970. $185K is a lot of money for a car in this shape but given limited production and the strong Euro, perhaps that's reality in today's market. Nice find!
Keith- I notice also that it's missing the floor-mounted grab handle by the R passenger foot area. Also missing (sadly, like mine) the backup/reversing lights.
Yep, lots o' bits missing. Finding, let alone buying those NOS bits is ugly as you well know. I had a bear of a time doing so in 1996-1999 when I was restoring my car. Doing it now is no doubt even more difficult.
I'm not an expert, but also missing the grill, has door pockets and shouldn't, and has the wrong glovebox.
4redno, Here is a pic of 00988's restored dash waiting to go back in the car. Should there be a cut out in the bottom left corner for a radio? Steve P.S. Any chance of getting a pic of your door check strap? Image Unavailable, Please Login
