    I'm looking for a specific measurement that the workshop manual does not cover. Specifically if the front lower suspension mounting points on a 328 are the same height as the rear lower suspension mounting points? Or, are the bottom chassis frame rails level, i.e. parallel to the ground? Does anyone have detailed chassis drawings? Thanks in advance.

    Hello, Eric;

    I'm currently working on a CAD chassis blueprint for my 308 project car, what's exactly what you're looking for? I understand rear suspensions from 308's and 328's are virtually the same. Front suspension is different, since the 328's incorporated an "anti-dive" design on the front.

    Not fully true Daniel: only the "série 2" 328, after châssis 76626, has anti- dive at the front.

    Eric. I know Mat in Finland digitized the entire 308 chassis so I believe they would know.

    Thank you, nerofer, that's correct. I've just found the info on that detail... those serie 2 cars would be the ones that came with ABS brakes, am I right?

    7 degree anti dive on the late 328. Whole front structure is different as well.

    I seem to recall they might have used the 288gto steering rack? Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks you for replies! I have looked at the MAT cad files but I would need to give them a call to get the specific measurements. Dan, I had sent you a PM earlier regarding your CAD drawings that you have made…very nice. Would you be able to send the files in a PDF or some other type of file?

    Let's not re-write again what has already been written many times, but...

    The "serie 2" cars are the "second half" of the 328 production (= after chassis 76626, although a very small number of cars after 76626, like 76632 for instance, still have the former suspension), cars that have "bulged", or "convex" wheels.
    These cars COULD be fitted with ABS which was an OPTION, so some of the cars with bulged wheels actually are NOT fitted with ABS.

    ABS was an option (= at extra cost...) on "euro" 328s until the end of production, so you have some very late 328 with bulged wheels, but without ABS.
    On US 328s, the cars produced from February 1988 (date of the change of suspension) to September 1988 (that our american collegues call "88 1/2" have the revised suspension but no ABS; all Model year 1989 (after September 1988) cars all have ABS.

    (if you want to know if a 328 with bulged wheels has ABS or not, you open the front hood and look at the brake fluid reservoir in front of the windscreen: if this reservoir is small and offset to the right side of the car, it does not have ABS; if the reservoir is large and just in the middle, the car has ABS)

    The revised suspension is actually, at the front, the one of the "Mondial", this for standardisation of parts; this suspension, due to its different offset from the former one, was better adapted to ABS than the previous one (as "Andyww" has well explained).

    All dimensions are very different from the "serie 1" 328s:
    - wheelbase of the "serie 2" is actually half-an-inch shorter
    - track is larger
    - offset, castor, etc are also different
    - triangles and uprights are those of the "Mondial".

    And, to come back to the subject at last: the pyramid of chassis tubes welded at the front onto which the suspension is bolted is completely different from the "serie 1" cars, as said by "Hyenahf" above, so the chassis is not the same (see the WSM for this, and the chassis of cars "after 76626")
