    I am looking for a good digital camera. Since it's mostly for crazy vacations and clubs it needs to be cheap. So something with high quality but few features, so I wouldn't miss it when I lose it.

    +1 On Canon. Sometimes when I need to do my jewelry pictures though, I have a hard time focusing on the damn stones. These were my best results after perhaps 30 tries. :( It didn't even come out good.

    Try placing a coin across the front of the stone - then have the camera focus (holding the button half way down to hold focus) while you remove the coin and snap the shot.

    Yeah I did man. The thing has a red color while it focuses. I've tried holding it and moving it back and forward in my hand. I've tried moving the camera back and forth in different distances. I don't know what's its issue. It does great for every application, but for jewelry it farts big time. Someone suggested I buy one of those camera jewelery white boxes. Where it's a white on sides so it focuses on the stone or piece it self.

    Heya mate. I have an Olympus Mju Mini 5.0mp and I reckon it kicks ass for a little camera. :D It is cheap and small which I is good as I take it with me everywhere to take crazy/party/car/whatever pics ect........:):)
    Not too worried if I break it or lose it. The article below actually hammers the poor little bugger, but I reckon its a great camera for my intended purpose. :)

    What about the Macro setting?

    I have several digi cams laying around ranging from new to about 3 years old and they all take nice up close shots.

    Try messing with your macro feature I haven't quite figured it out myself yet but you gotta find out somehow. Heres one I took a few weeks ago. Also if you have trouble keep your hand still and don't want to use a tripod or something turn on your flash but adjust it so the flash isn't so bright.

    Canon SD600 or SD630, i have the sd600 it cost 380 with tax's its 6.0 mp if you wana pay more this is a better one

    Get a DSLR like the Canon Digital Rebel XTi or the Nikon D40X and put it on manual focus. As long as you get the right lens, you'll never have a problem shooting your jewelry again. The Point and Shoot cameras aren't really made with that kind of photography in mind. Personally, I shoot with the Nikon D200, so I'm partial to the Nikon brand. But I do actually prefer the Canons for Point and Shoots.

    Canon SD1000 is really nice and they are getting fairly cheap these days.
