Before posting this thread, I did an Fchat search to see if I could find this info. As I did not, I am providing some hopefully helpful info below.

I have a 2013 458 spider that never bakes in the sun. Too paranoid about leather dash shrinkage! Don't laugh, it happens.
Anyway, I reached for the rarely used emergency brake switch and thought someone put chewing gum on it. The 2 buttons along with the beige soft plastic surround as well as the soft beige surround of the light cluster/mirror adjustment knobs was likewise sticky. Really pissed me off. I know all about the legendary sticky buttons and the thought off spending thousands to fix this was not going down well.

Then, I remembered what my father in law says to virtually every question posed to him: "I bet there is a Youtube video on that".
Damn if there aren't more than one. And NONE involving Ferraris.
So, I tried their remedy of using a dilute solution of Oxy-clean. Damn if my affected areas are not silky smooth now!
I cannot tell you how long the fix will last. I can only tell you my buttons and soft plastic pieces are NOT sticky and NO writing was hurt in the process.
If this is old news to everyone here, I am so sorry to waste your time.
    Best

Interesting- never heard this one. I may have to try it on my frunk/gas cap release.

approx what ratio did you dilute to?

I used directions on container. It said to use their measuring cup and fill to line 1 and add to 16 oz of water.
I may have used a little less water as I had a 32 oz bottle that wasn’t labeled and just eye balled it.

I guess I'm only familiar with the spray bottle that doesn't call for any dilution. are you using the powder and then dissolving it according to the instructions?

    Yes.
The YouTube article said it is the calcium oxylate that is the active ingredient that works to remove the sticky residue. The powder Oxy-clean appears to have the most calcium oxylate so used this formula

I've had good luck using isopropyl alcohol in my Maserati Grand Turismo, but am dreading the day that my 458 Spider starts having this problem. There are a lot of products from Oxi-Clean, can you confirm the specific one you are using: https://www.oxiclean.com/en/products? I'm guessing it's this one https://www.oxiclean.com/en/products/stain-fighters/oxiclean-versatile-stain-remover, but would be great to know for sure

    Thanks,

    Rob

Looks like it was sodium not calcium carbonate. So much for the organic chemistry I took in college!
This video is one of many.
    Hope the link works.

FYI: I sprayed the solution onto my micro-fiber cloths and rubbed. I was afraid to spray directly on the car parts for fear surrounding leather or carpet dye might be affected.
The Oxiclean product was their garden variety powder. I didn't use a pre-mixed spray. Not saying it wouldn't work. Video shows product although now in a "tub" looking container.

Finally getting back to this thread, what great advice.

There are about a billion Oxi Clean products, so i chose:

I finally got a chance to try it on my 2011 Maserati Gran Turismo Convertible (my 2014 458 Spider does not YET have any sticky buttons). I applied it with a toothbrush and wiped it off with a micro fiber cloth. Going great so far.

    Thanks again,

    Rob

I just tried this on my 599. It worked. This is a huge win for all of us. I think the solution removed the top most gooey layer, but left lower layers untouched. The controls are silky and wonderful now. No icons were harmed during the procedure, and the little bit of goo that had gotten on my seats came off easily as well. I used the powder version dissolved in warm water and a lot of microfiber towels. Loads of goo came off, so I went through about a dozen towels before I was done. I finished by using warm water on a towels to remove a little bit of white residue left on the leather. Randslovis has done us all a huge favor. I cannot thank you enough sir!
