Wanted Cheap White TR

what is your budget?

 

Cheap white TR? I've been called worse things . . .

 

Just something to consider but it might be easier to find the cheapest TR of any color and have it wrapped white than to find a white TR in any condition.

By the way, the ass-clown that bought the $100K white TR a few weeks ago has relisted and is now trying to sell it for $161K !!

What ****** move.

At that price he will be sitting on the car until the year 2025

 

Who cares what he lists it for? If he gets appreciably more than what he paid for it then good for him for having an eye for value.

 

I'm a capitalist and have ZERO problem with someone making a profit. I trade stocks and bonds all day long (for 26 years) so I "get it".

But the new owner clearly hasn't done his homework. This car sat on the market for half of a year at $103-$112K. No buyers at that level. I happen to know the car sold below that level but will not disclose the exact number out of respect for the previous owner (who happens to be a nice guy).

Perhaps the car wasn't "marketed" correctly before. Maybe a new marketing strategy will get $110K+ for the car and the guy can make a nice profit. By the way, the new sales ad is horrible!!

But $161K? Come on! No way will that EVER happen. I've spent a year and a half looking at and talking to the sellers of almost every white TR on the market.

Three white TR's are on the market now ranging in price of $119-$140K. And the cars are getting NO bids close to those asking prices. They have all been priced at that level for a long time. Prices will need to be reduced if they hope to sell them.

I know this white TR well because I seriously considered buying it. I had many communications with the past owner about it. Is it a good car? YES Will it sell for anything north of $110-120k in this market? NO

Just one man's opinion.

 

All I’m saying is that people post absurd asking prices on any commodity. Doesn't mean it is a “****” move as you say.

He can list for whatever and you or anyone else can offer whatever.

 

Yep....the market will decide.

I still remember the interview from an old mechanic that worked on the Ferrari 250 GTO' s during the 60's.

His take on the current multimillion dollar valuations was ....."it was just an old racecar no one wanted"

Guys, nobody loves white TR's more than me

That said, I still stand my statement that is 'di ck move' marking it up 60+ percent.

Because it will most likely prohibit other fellow white TR lovers (like us) from owning one.

IIRC, the prior seller was in that area. The car was for sale by the owner while listed here so I'm no so certain it was sold for the price listed here. Perhaps it didn't change hands and is on consignment? A Carfax would likely say.

I'm having a difficult time understanding your post. But I can assure you that the white '89 TR (last listed on this site) was sold by it's owner last month. A dealer now owns it

 

Greg - all I'm saying is the owner had the car listed at the same time it was listed here (at least in the beginning).

You are correct Dave. He originally listed it himself here on Fchat. Then he had it on consignment with Yellow Compass on this site. Yellow Compass did not sell it. The sale was done solely by the owner.
