I have a Mondial T (1990) with about 81,000 miles on it. Just had the major 30k service in October 2004 when it had 78k miles. Everything works perfectly, but just the other day, the "check engine 1/4" light came on - stayed on for about 2 minutes, then went off. Yesterday, it came on again just before I got home and stayed on until I turned the engine off. What could that be?

    Many thanks.

I was told by a mechanic that most likely this means a bad o2 sensor or a bad ecu on the 3.4 litre engines. He also said "DO NOT DRIVE IT HARD WITH THAT LIGHT ON!". If you get a slow down 1/4 light on the engine may be shut down and you risk damaging the valves which I am told is a $30k repair. Anyway, have it checked out before any major dmage occurs.

Have you tried following the instructions in your OM to read the "code" yourself? Might not tell you exactly what's wrong, but it will tell you what it thinks is wrong. Many good posts here by the 348 guys with helpful tips beyond the OM instructions.
