    My check engine light just came on for the 5-8 bank. A few days ago the idle started holding between 1,600 and 1,800 rpm kinda oscilating back and forth. Today after a few miles of driving the check engine light for the 5-8 cylinders came on. Where oh where might i start to isolate the problem causing this

    Start by pulling the engine codes. Run a search of the archive for the instructions.
