Hi, the other day my check engine light came on, plus a green dot that’s blinking next to the D on the dash. On top of that, it seems my idle is staying at 2 some.
    Is that normal???

Do you think it might help us if you tell what sort of car it is ?

Think the OP means "idle speed is near 2K RPM", but it is amazing how many times people think we are psychic and instinctively know what year/model/version car they have ;).

A flashing D indicates a transmission problem. Like FuntanaS said, get codes and report back. Does the car drive all weird? If so, ding ding ding!! Anyway, get that (those) code (s)!

No that is not normal. Like Derekmon said it's the transmission. Have the car towed to the nearest shop right away. Just tell them to pull the transmission and install a new one. No need to talk about it or diagnose. Just replace it. Also if you have a bit of extra money get a new engine too, you can go wrong.
