OK, so I am new to FerrariChat.com.. but I did get a warning from my neighbor to search before posting... so I did and did not find much. OK, so I purchased a 2002 with 8,000 miles, F1.. love it... but it had a check engine light on when I purchased, I got a “do bill” from the dealership (not a authorized Ferrari dealership,( although they are lambo and many others) anyhow... They can not seem to fix the car, I have given it back to me 2 times now, they claim it has been fixed and then the light pops right back on again. No power loss from what I can tell, the car drives fine..

now this is the third time they have had the car sense I purchased (3 weeks ago) they have swapped out parts , even swapped out the comp's and still can’t fix the prob. The original code that it was pulling was a tps, they replaced that, still not able to fix..

Any suggestions? I mentioned to them that I would just return the car and get another.. still fighting with them on this one.

I would not mind stepping up to an F430 but they are not being easy to work with, any suggestions on the check engine light or returning the car?

take it to an actual Ferrari dealer, not a hack shop that tries to fix the problem by guessing and/or swapping parts in and out.

doesn't sound like they know what they are doing? why would they swap a the computer out? Have they checked your variators and belts? As others have said, bring it to an authorized dealer or a Ferrari mechanic that's on the caliber of Brian Crall.

Had the same issue on my 2002 360 also could not pass the emission test it turned out to be the Fuel Evap system leak at the cap and hose. I agree with the other guys go to a dealer or at least a reputable independent shop.

Plus... 02s often had dodgy ECUs. I had an '02 and after 4 or 5 repeated check engine lights they just replaced both ECUs. However I think they are around 2 grand each...

First, doese your car have Tubi or any other after market exhaust? If so that could be your issue!

90% of the time in Ferrari and even normal everyday cars when the check engine light is on, most if not all will try to tell you it is a issue with the o2 sensors, but most times its the gas cap...and is cheap..start there if you do not have aftermarket exhaust!

If the problem is the gas cap, how long does it take for the check engine light to turn off after retightening it?

I actually had the same problem on my 00' 360. the light pops out again even though it had been fixed by the dealer. However, I have installed Taget Exhaust so I guess may be the problem of the sensor. If anyone knows, please advise!!!
