I just got home from a little drive, I stopped inside our garage to talk to a neighbor and while stopped, the check engine light came on. I read from others how could be bc of loose gas cap, i did literally just get gas but still dont want to assume thats it, either way, engine sounds fine, got to my parking spot, turned the car off and on, CEL is still there. My shop is far from me, probably 30-40 min drive, would it be safe to drive it there or should i just tow it?

    1) General Ferrari rule-of-thumb is that if it drives normally, it's fine to drive
    2) Very possibly gas cap, possibly O2 sensors

I had a CEL come on in the middle of a two-day 1K mile vacation. All the gauges and everything else was fine, so I just continued the vacation and had a good time.

See 2 months ago the car shut off on me at a stop sign, CEL came on, ended up being the clutch position sensor, but this time it popped on but car is still driving thats why I wasn't sure whether to tow it or drive it, its not the money its just you know how tows go ill end up wasting 2-3 hours for the "30 min away" tow truck lol

I have been through the engine and drivetrain on my car, so I know a CEL is most likely some exhaust related nonsense, and the exhaust components have all been addressed too.

Your situation is different. I might consider getting a flatbed, depending on how far I was from the destination.

not 10dollars... but my Bosch 1050 uses bluetooth to my phone and does a great job. (of course it is not an SD2, but it can distinguish between misfire and evap (loose gascap))

I keep my OBDII scanner in my glove box. In the past when I got a CEL, I used the scanner to clear the codes. Haven't had a CEL since. If the issue was persistent, the CEL light should come on again.
