I have a 1999 F355 with the Motronic 5.2 ststem. The check engine light is on. Car has 13K on it. Took it to an independant shop. The sd-1 shows 3 failures.
    #1 "worn catalytic converter present
#2 "Front oxygen Sensor heating" present
#3 " Secondary air Pump" present
I'm having a hard time believing all 3 items failed. I would like to replace that front 02 sensor but can't find a source that sells them for a 199 355. Is this a hard to get part? Any eqiuvalent 02 part numbers?
Also I want to get an OBDII scanner. Can someone recomend a specific model. I don't have a laptop. Last thing. If it boils down to the cat. I'm unclear as to what the warranty is. I hear 7 or 8. I live in Ca. Bought the car last July.
    Appreciate any help with this.

check the fuse for the air pump located in the passenger foot area fuse box. You will most likely find it blown. This will possibly give you the indications that you have there.

If it is blown, You may have a bad pump. I have found some that the fan impellers in the pump break and jam up the pump motor causing the fuse to blow.

at least a first spot to look.

best regards and let me know what you find.

    Jim

There are cat problems with 355's. The cats are covered under the 8/80 warranty. We have had several sets replaced at the dealer. You may want to take a chance and let an authorized dealer look at it. Jim is right about the fuse. I have replaced a bunch of the fuses. I don't understand why they use such a low amp fuse on this. Other manufactures use a 40 amp maxi fuse. I usually replace the 15 with a 20 amp fuse and have not seen one come back blown yet.

Ca. cats are 7-70 from date of original sale. Do what Jim said, put a fuse in the air pump. Also at that independant shop with the SD1 you should be able to watch downstream O2 to tell if the cat really is worn.

Ferrari told us to replace them with a 30. But Jim is right, in my experience most of the air pumps that blow fuses are going south. Either blades or bad bearings.
