Nice work, Ed. I like the steering wheel. Did you have to reset the airbag ECU, or did it recognize it and continue to function as normal?

    Thanks!

BTW - why the change to Motons? Or do you already have another thread discussing this?

Sorry for the newbie questions: do the Motons behave better on the street, or track, or both when compared to the stock Bilsteins? My F355 will be a dual-purpose car, street and track use.

the stock suspension felt a little soft at high speeds, and the motons are adjustable on compression/rebound, so I figured it would be a good replacement. You can do a search on my threads, I've been adding parts to this 355 since I got it in sept 04, and now it's finally complete! so I'm pretty excited...actually all I need now is a nice stereo system, nothing too over the top though...just that the stockers sound like a clock radio.

Not on the website, contact me for pricing and availability. Note this is an expensive setup but at the end of the day you have authentic Ferrari parts and a very clean look. Plus we all spend most of our time behind the wheel, should look how we want it to.

    Kev,

Will a 360 steering wheel fit? or any other 3 spoke Ferrari airbag wheel?

I sent a Stradale wheel and airbag to a customer this week who is fitting them onto his F355. Both were brought in from Italy to save on $$, and they are gorgeous. The airbag is just shy of $2K, the wheel, IIRK is about $1200.

They're both up on the Ricambi website in the 360 section I think.

Possibly, I don't really know as this is all news to me. When Ed contacted me it was the first time I had heard of it, I know the 575 works and based on Daniel's customer the Stradale wheel may work short of that I can't answer any other questions due to lack of actual testing.

Are both airbags the same shape (when inflated), have the same size and speed pyrotechnics, and are the sensor trigger points identical? Are the seatbelt pre-tensioning charges also the same?

I help car manufacturers develop new product training courses which covers stuff like airbags and all active safety systems (the kind that reduce injuries once you are having the accident) are just that, they are designed to work together as a system. The airbag "going off" presumes the correctly sequenced operation of the seat belt retraction mechanism. There are also variables related to crumple zone design and seating location. You cant normally just bolt another a wheel from one car onto another one.

Having said all that, maybe Ferrari being low volume use generic systems with pretty loose parameters. Be interesting to know how deeply you guys have looked into this conversion, certainly looks sweet and I am keen to give it a go.

The reason I chose the 575M airbag was because the older 550M cars used the same steering wheel/airbag as all the 355 models so I figured when they switched to the new 575M with the new 3 spoke wheel/airbag, ferrari probably kept the same mounting points. Plus I liked the silver horn buttons! and the horn buttons looked like they are in the same position as the 355 horn buttons. So I figured it'll probably be a direct bolt on....and fortunately, it turned out perfect! As for the technical details of the airbag design working with the rest of the system I have no clue on any of it. I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone if the 575M wheel would fit the 355. I just took a chance.

Nizam, I talked to the shop today and they said the steering wheel/airbag was a direct bolt on replacement

It's a good fit, but Ricard's point was that a front-engine car has (or could have) a different crumple-time in a front-end collision than does a mid-engine car. This means that the delay is typically set differently for the air-bag deployment electronics.
