Sights like this really make me wonder how many of these cars ACTUALLY still exist!

And some people can't seem to understand why the prices are rising for 3X8's, especially condition 1 cars.

I know the car well. Very sad story that one.

Low mile perfect car. Caught fire.

That's what happens when people use that braided fuel hose with modern gas.

What is the issue with a braided fuel line?

Reason I'm asking is because I just brought a car home with one of those, I think. If I need to get it off, it's coming off this weekend.

From the outside, braided lines tend to hide leaks that would otherwise likely be visable.

On the inside, many hoses claim to be E10 or even E15 compliant but a few folks here have proven they are, under real world conditions, not compliant at all.

For rehabilitation of german stuff I allow myself to state, that the Volkswagen FPM/ECO fuel lines (actually a Conti product) are the best stuff I have ever got for my cars. Of course besides the orange special sizes from Dave Helms (SRI), which I have for the cross-over pipe and filler neck.
What german crappy stuff do you mean exactly?

    Best Regards
    Martin

You don't have our gas so your experience has no relevance.

The Conti turns cars into death traps. It is pretty average at best even for real gasoline.

When I replace those fuel lines every five to six years, they still look and feel as new. And they state, that they are E85 tested. FPM means, that the inner liner is made from Viton, while other manufacturers just underline this material as the best ethanol resistant stuff. I had them in my last fuel injected (3 bar system pressure) Daily driver for ten years without problems or signs of deterioration. Not even on that single line, which ran 2 inches near the exhaust header.
I think Conti maybe supplies different kinds of fuel hoses. I'm talking about the FPM/ECO stuff, which they introduced for OEM stuff for the SLR-McLaren and later for OEM-VW. So I sleep well :)
What was really bad, was some Gates fuel hose, I used on my wife's little VW. It showed cracks on the outside just one year after installation. So I pass the ball back. Crap from the US :)
    What's wrong with your gasoline?

    Best Regards

I used as many of the stock hose clamps as I could. You don't need the fancy hose terminations. Just make sure you have a good hose cutter. I bought one of those from JEGS too, just so I would get nice cuts.

The JEGS hose is pricey, but an engine fire would be worse. I've worked with Viton in my real job. It's pretty tough stuff.

    E10-E15 is 'normal.'

We smart Euros KILLED anything above E5 almost dead a couple of years ago.

My local station sells 1 E10 liter to near 50 E5 liters per X.

Even the very cost conscience kids like my dumbassed college kid son have wised up. :)

Euros stopped buying lethal mouse piss. Americans have not.

When I took out the headers a few years back I found there was one crossover pipe and two vent tubes between two fuel tanks. The only ground points were the filler pipe where it was bolted to the body and the ground wire for the fuel level sensor. So when you are filling the drivers side tank the fuel is moving to the passenger tank via the crossover pipe. This will create static electricity with now were to go. In fact the crossover pipe has a rubber cover around were the mounting strap goes. Add in 30 year old leaky venting hoses and you have a fuel source. When I put everything back in I made sure all the tanks, pipes and tubes had ground straps on them.

E10 pretty routinely measures at 20%.

God knows what E15 really is.
