1983 400i w/5speed. Along with the usuall pictures the seller also has two videos of the car.
Jim, You're sleepwalking again... Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-5-speed-1983-Ferrari-400i-Rare-5-Speed_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a3Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1308Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem4a97eeae4aQQitemZ320376581706QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks I think it belongs to one of us, no? Regards, Art S.
I noticed that yesterday, the video idea is interesting but doesn't really add much imo. This car has been on the market from several sellers over the past 9 years and it appears to have had a ton of work done on it. White is my least favorite color and the interior white/black combination is not at all attractive to me. While we may say that $45K is an entirely unrealistic price for a 400i, I would have to say that it may well be worth it if all the work that it says has been done to it has been done by a competent and honest shop and can be documented. PS Just watched the on the road video again and was reminded that the car seems to have a lot of side to side sway while going straight on a multi-lane highway. Maybe it is a shaky camera mount or more likely a handheld with a buddy in the backseat, but I remember thinking that I would get seasick if the car really rides that way. I loved the exasperation at being blocked in by slower traffic at the end of the video! Great sounding car!
Great videos, lovely car. rebirthauto obviously got the correct rear glass in the end! I like the white paint, especially in a hot climate. I remember seeing a white 412 regularly in London in the late 1980s, it sounded great even at low speeds. The price is quite high, but it has been thoroughly sorted, so I'd say it was a good deal. A
It was a long day at work then home for a quick dinner then 3 hours of ballet, I was wiped out, thanks for posting the link!
We bought EuroSpare's 412 breaker's glass. What an adventure this glass thing has been. The car is indeed #44121. The exterior color is a Cream, while the interior is Black & Tan. We're thinking about re-shooting the video, because the aspect ratio is completely off (the image looks skinny), and my cameraman while trying to reach over from the back seat was obviously not steady. In his defense, and for those of you with 5 speed car, I encourage you to go out and find out at what speed you get the engine note you hear in the video in fifth gear There's nothing like an F-car, period. I hope it will go to a good home.
Well you certainly have done a lot to bring that car to tip top condition! Best of luck finding a new lucky owner!
It's great to see more videos of the 400 series on Youtube! There are only a couple of videos of the GTC4 and none of the 365GT4 2+2.
Well, Jim, your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to create that video of the 365 GT4 2+2 blasting down some of the roads in Alaska. I don't know where you are in AK, but if you could shoot it on that road along the Turnagain sound when the tide is roiling up the waters, that would be a fantastic video! As always,if you are captured by the enemy, we will disavow any knowledge of you or your mission!
Sebastian, congratulations and all the best...fantastic work, top notch...really incredible. Jim, accept the mission...please... in fact, and for those of you that don't know, Jim is driving his car home with his family... so tape as much as possibe the whole way home. memories for a life time...
"memories for a life time... " Yeah, we'll probably be ready to kill each other after 8-10 days in the car!
Jim, You'll be in the Ferrari; there's no reason that the trip should take more than two or three days... Best Regards, Art S.
Forgot how good the 400 sounds. At first I thought the price was outrageous but with all the work done it is worth it. Best wishes on selling it to a good home.
I saw the add yesterday and I LOVE the color and the car looks awesome. I really wish I could afford this car. Good job on sorting it out!!!!!
Thank you all for the kind words. The market is such now, that I will be considering trades for the car. I really didn't want to do that, but now, I'm ready to look at livestock, time shares, Enron stock options, and any fine hand built automotive gem, such as the exquisite Camarossa (http://www.sunsetclassics.com/1986-ferrari-testarossa/). Let the madness begin! I've relisted the item here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320383726801 Wish me luck and patience, please. Sebastien
