Replaced the existing aftermarket midrange speakers in my 328 the other day with a pair of ADS car speakers that have the same size mid and also a tweeter. With ignition switched ON but car not running, and stereo on, if I honked the horn or hit a window switch the stereo shuts off for the duration of the switching. Doesn't happen with the car running however. These are car speakers previously used in another car. I left them in since there seems to be no other effect and well, I don't anticipate honking much w.the car off so I'm not to worried about that facet. But is there any long term potential effect I should consider?

You might have a weak battery.

Sounds like the heavier electrical draw is capturing the available battery energy.

Indeed. The plot thickens...evidence is mounting that my intermittent starting issue may be in fact due to a weak battery. Time to test that sum*****.

sounds like a bad ground. Could the horn and window be on the same ground wire.

That's a good point as well.

Remove the battery leads, clean them, and reattach.

    See what that does.

The leads are clean and secure. Possibly a bad ground elsewhere?
