I have to say I love this kinda stuff. Yes they could do better on the track, but still I love seeing them setting a record like this (or not as the case may be because they haven't done the back run in due time).

 

what kinda record did MS set a few yrs back when he raced that jet andreas?

 

I don't think that was a record, but rather a show to see what vehicle accelerates faster. Those things are more spectacles than anything because the acceleration rates are known. The F1 car always wins on the first meters and after some distance (200m?) the jet takes over.

What MS did was cool nonetheless and in the tradition of what Gilles Villeneuve did. After all our beloved marque features the same logo as the air squadron Gilles and Michael "raced".

What Honda did was different in the sense that they actually set a speed record for F1 cars. Technically they haven't because they missed to do it twice within a given time, but they're trying again.

PS: Coincidentally this is the weekend I wanted to race a jet with my own Ferrari at the Muskegon wings & wheels show, but the Airforce wasn't up for it.

hehe....what, they're pretty sure you'll outrun their jets maybe...lol

 

I agree, I wish more teams would take a shot at this record...or at least have some sort of demonstration to showcase the power of these cars.
