oooh, Lufthansa. can you verify for me that some of the car's i've ordered on ebay are on their way, yeah?
That's crazy! I would like to contact that guy to use my company's crystals! I assume that this plane has four engines which would be a real joy to tune!
Wow. Is there a kit for planes that big, or did he make that himself? He probably has five figures in that plane!
Andy, planes this big are usually scratch-built by the owner(s). One turbine engine alone costs at least $3K. I remember seeing a scale R/c twin-turbine f18 Hornet in Metropolis, IL (Superman Jet Rally, the biggest show of its kind in the US) and the owner was asking $20K! You can buy a Ferrari for that! Ron
The range of the radio would be out of sight. Radar avoidance would not be an issue because of general restrictions regarding fly any RC plane close to active airports.
Within a niche application, micro UAVs (the size of the plane pictured and smaller) are a great resource. But they will not replace for instance the Global Hawk UAV, which is actually quite large to lift the various payloads, and to carry enough fuel to stay on station for TWO DAYS! Try that with your model jet
WITH THE BEAUTY OF THIS PLANE, IF IT WAS FOR SALE, I WOULD ASK OUR FELLOW FCHATTER " GENTRY" TO TRY AND PROMOTE IT....HES BEEN INVOLVED WITH OTHER AERO SALES... BRUCE
Ones personal liability for flying typical RC planes is great enough. Flying this jet model is almost stupid! Batteries die in flight, connectors can come lose, other guys can turn their radios on (On accident) that are on the same frequency (and crash your plane).
That was my thought. Stuff happens with RC planes, that thing has to weigh a few pounds. Could do severe damage to say, a house. But it is kinda cool. I was just wondering, how does he transport it, in another 747? Or does he just hop on and ride it?
Here is a picture and 3 videos of a scale B52 with 8 gas turbine engines taking off. It's sadly now crashed. http://www.mcgirt.net/RC/VIDEOS/Giant_B52/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
