Very cool, I guessed it was Pikes Peak, but wow - it has really changed since then. The sky was clear back then also.
I grew up in that area and remember you could see the dust rising over the peak every year during the hill climb. It used to be when you rented a car in Colorado Springs, there was a blurb on the rental contract that driving the car up Pikes Peak voided the contract. It was said that one drive to the summit was the same as putting something like 10k miles on your car.
