Well it’s been an interesting year or so. First of all I really want to say how good it made me feel when a few of you called to check on me. Seriously without getting all mushy I was touched.

For those of you who wondered where I went the answer is nowhere but I've been pretty sick. A little over 2 years ago I took a drug called Chantix to help me stop smoking. I'm happy to say that I did indeed quit. However the after effects have been severe. I spent over $100,000 getting every test known to man. Finally I got a doctor to tell me off the record, “Dave you’re not going to get a Dr. to say anything bad about a drug company.” I've been living with what feels like battery acid in my hips, knees, elbows, wrists, and finger joints. Walking up (when you actually can sleep) every day in pain knowing that it won’t get any better during the day plays havoc with your life. The psychology of that kind of pain is very interesting. Google the words "Chantix joint pain" and you'll see there are 100's of people living a nightmare without much hope.
Frankly I’m a bit jaded and after all my research I haven’t found anyone who has made a full recovery but in the past month or so I’ve begun to feel a bit better. Not anywhere close to 100% but better.

    So….

”Hi all. How you doing? Let’s hear the scuttlebutt. I have a few stories to share with you too”

Somebody saw me driving the 400 up to Austin and posted something here. Does anyone have a link to that post? I'd like to read it.

Welcome back. It's disheartening and scary to hear these stories about medicines intended to heal that do more harm than good. Sort of like finding out the miracle oil you put in your crankcase is the reason you are looking at an overhaul, only worse.
This doctor recommends clear(red?) liquids for a better outlook.
    best wishes to you

welcome back Dave! we missed you! last year I took extra strength musinex when I was out of town and it gave me such a severe reaction that I could not walk in a straight line. i would fall over if I tried. My equilibrium was thrown off so bad that I could not even attend my business meetings. Took three days in bed just for me to stand up. I know its not close to your situation, but now I no longer take any over the counter drugs or medicines unless im on the hospital bed!@ best wishes to get well 100 percent

As I said in the other thread...

    DAVE!!!!! Welcome back!!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues; welcome to the cripples club :D (mine is impact induced as opposed to chemical induced). It is great to hear you are recovering (or at least making progress).

With the hurricane and your medical condition, have you been able to keep the winery going?

    Regards,

    Art S.

    Hiya Art!

    GREAT to hear from you.

Yep the winery is still up and running. Obviously it has been tough with the economy and my health but it is still there.
I just saw your other reply; I can help you with that lack of Texas wine problem :D . Check the website, the Tempranillo and Syrah I'm releasing this week are world class (seriously) I'll tell you the story about them later, you'll laugh like crazy.

My grand-daughter has your Christmas tree picture on her bedroom wall. Too funny!

    BRETT! Hey man how goes?
Can I assume that the new shop is working out?

Watch for my post about pulling the tranny on my car. You'll bust a gut.

Hey Dave, welcome back, sorry to hear about your medical issues. That must be horrific. What is the prognosis now that you are off of the medication?

    Looking forward to your stories.

    Hiya Paul, Tony!

It is really strange. I've been off it for a long time. the symptoms don't start until you stop taking it. Prognosis? Who knows? The Dr's don't know what to do.
