This may sound strange and I am not sure how close the exotic car community is up there but I have a question. I am selling a Lamborghini Gallardo and was recently contacted by a potential buyer. The car needs some work which I just arranged at a local dealer. He claims to be interested in buying the car after I take care of everything which I am fine with. He didn't seem to know much about exotic cars but I asked him anyway if he had ever owned any sports cars. He said very casually that he had an Enzo and then had to take another call. While I was on hold with this guy I began to ponder why someone who had a car that they had paid between $660k-1.5M for would want to buy my Gallardo with a lot of miles and just having had some major engine work done to repair some damage. When he came back on the line, he proceeded to tell me that he had an exotic car collection worth about $4.5M. He said he had the Enzo, a McLaren F1, and a Bugatti Veyron. He went on to say that he was young but (I believe) he said that his family was in the real estate development business. His involvement was unclear. He said he was 27 and that while he used to be a big car nut, he felt that they were largely overrated and just had the cars because he felt that it was expected of him as a young person who had the amount of money that he had.

Now I have spoken to many people who have car collections like this or have more than enough money to buy them without thinking about it but this was a very different experience. He did sound young and that may explain it but it was a very surreal conversation. I hesitate to discount him for that because I am actually younger than he is. I found it very hard to believe, partially because if someone wanted to come up with a small car collection worth as much as possible, those would probably be the three cars (particuarly if he couldn't pronounce Koenigsegg or Pagani). You expect tire kickers when you sell a car like this but he didn't seem to want to come see the car anytime soon and he didn't know enough about the cars to simply want to talk about them. He told me to call him when the car is repaired and I asked him to get in touch with me if he is ever in Atlanta which he said he would be within the next few months. I honestly don't care if I sell the Gallardo to him or at all, I just thought it was as strange circumstance and figured someone with cars like that would probably be noticable by you guys. Does anyone know of anyone like that who lives in Boston?

    Thanks,
    Ed

Up to 58 views. I guess it does. Does anyone know if there are any Enzos or McLarens in Boston? If so, how many? I am not sure how closely they keep track of Enzos but I know there are a few people who keep pretty close tabs when F1's change hands.
Thanks for looking (even those who don't reply!)

Herb Chambers has a McLaren F1 in Boston but doesn't have an Enzo, Frank Seldorff (sp?) also has/had a McLaren F1 in Boston but no Enzo. It could be a private collector perhaps?

there are a few enzos in boston. i don't believe any of them are owned by twenty-somethings.

there is a real estate developer in the waltham area who owns a black enzo - maybe it's his kid? no clue if he also owns an F1.

net-net, the whole thing smells odd to me, but that's just one boy's opinion.

Did he say that he actually has the cars here in Boston or New England? Maybe they are not kept here. And maybe he's not the actual owner of the cars and they are all family-owned. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, obviously, which is not something you really want to do in a $170k+ transaction...

So, there are a few Enzos (Enzi?) in the Boston area and a couple of Mac F1s but has anyone seen a Veyron?

If he had that kind of cake, do you think he would even be considering a used Lambo? The red flags were there and it smells! It amazes me people do the wierdest things.....I dont get what he thought he would accomplish....

There are a few Enzos, but a couple that were here have left "New England". AFAIK, there are only two McLaren F1s in the Greater Boston area, but there are probably more down in Southern CT. Nobody has a Bugatti up here yet, AFAIK.

I'd wager money it's some young punk just playing you for fun. Sorry to hear about it, hope you sell your gallardo.

    vty,

Boston area McLarens; two from a certain owner (LM version/s), and the third being the one that used to be on display at various of Herb Chambers' dealerships? I think Herb is known to keep his stable in the southeastern part of CT, on the other side of state from Greenwich and all the nice cars there. Ralph Lauren likely has some of his cars in Westchester, or supposedly in Montauk (according to a NY F Chat post last week)

I only remember 2 Enzos near Boston, one went to the left coast and the other got traded/replaced by a Carrera GT. (might be traded again since 2005 or so)
