Wife and I headed to Chicago May 2-4. Plan to see Cubbies and Cards either Fri or Sat. Maybe Fire Soccer Sat if Cubbies Friday. Any suggestions for activities? We plan to stay near the river, Wacker or close. Thanks!
Last time we saw them, about 1989. Ozzie was still playing. Same weekend we saw a double header Sox and Rangers, Nolan Ryan pitched the second game. Last year of Comiskey Park as well. A great weekend.
Nolan and Ozzie in the same weekend, now that's cool! Cardinals look to be strong this year. Cubbies? well....
Welcome to Eataly Chicago! | Eataly You'll thank me. This place is heaven. Walk around, sample some foods and wine, then sit down for a great meal. Even if you have no intention of buying anything to take/ship home, the restaurants are great. The wife and I went last month. I only planned on picking up a few things and wound up leaving with a few hundred dollars in food and wine. I looked like a bag lady on the train back to MKE. I'm already planning trips to Chi just to stop in. Mark
Is that one place? Different stores? Mall like? Where is it located, kinda hard to tell from the web site. Thanks.
It's one store with two floors. It's like shopping in a specialty grocery store that has several restaurants and a wine cellar in it. You can walk around and shop, or go to one of the restaurants (or wine bar or beer bar)...or do both like I did. I don't really know how to describe it. It's an experience just walking around and checking it out. I was trying to find a good map for you and stumbled upon this web page. Check it out, it describes the place well. You MUST eat at Girl and The Goat. One of the best meals I've even had. Sit at the bar and order a few different things. If I went back, I'd get 3 orders of Pig Face just for myself and die happy. Not kidding, GO. Girl and the Goat From my receipt, becuase it makes me laugh: Image Unavailable, Please Login
You are close to the Navy Pier as well which is quite a nice place, and they should have Garretts popcorn there! The park is obviously a nice place as well, in the loop of Chicago. Giordano's pizza is amazing as well. Wallis tower for sight seeing.
Nice place. I drive by there every day to work. You might want to check out the bar (named Re-Bar) in the Trump tower across the river: you have a spectacular view in the opposite direction of the river.
Not a whole lot out there. I'd go to the Planetarium (down the road) and eat there: no great food but possibly the best view of the city skyline from anywhere
After the Field Museum we went to the Little Goat for lunch, fun. 6 PM local, now we need to decide dinner......
House of Blues is different, has great food and just across the bridge. Harry Carry is also nearby if you are a baseball fan. Catch 35 is a really great food place within walking distance.
We went to Harry Caray's last time we were here, maybe 10 years ago. Best cream spinich I have ever had! Speaking of Harry, remember his Bud commercial? [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2HZsx12aIog[/ame]
