I thought I would post another rundown of events in the Chicago region. It will be a very busy year with some great events in 2013. The month of July and August are really busy again with the HAWK Historics, Ferrari Club event and ALMS/GA event at Road America. Also both the Milwaukee Masterpiece and The Geneva concours are in August. Here is the list. The Barrington Concours looks to be very good this year with several large collections on display. Please add more events if you find out about them. For more track events check the Road America website along with other local track websites.

    June 16th Oakbrook Mall Concours

July 18th-21st Hawk Historic race at Road America..Can Am focus

    July 12th-14th Barrington Concours

July ? Autohistorica Highland Park Concours

July 30th - August 4th Ferrari Club 50th anniversary at Road America

The Barrington Concours d'Elegance, an annual showcase of collectible cars and motorcycles, will move to downtown Chicago in 2014 and be renamed the Chicago Concours, its new management told the Tribune.

The new owners are David Cooper, founder of Cooper Technica, a vintage car restoration and investment company in the West Loop, and Patty Dowd Schmitz, principal of Barrington-based Three Peaks Marketing Group.

Cooper and Schmitz said they are in talks with the Chicago Park District and hope to hold the event on Northerly Island in June 2014. The 2013 event will continue as planned in Barrington in July.

Cooper and Schmitz have formed a for-profit company, Chicago Concours Inc., to manage the event and a related charity, the Legends & Legacy Foundation, which is awaiting final Internal Revenue Service approval.
    .......

She said she expects this year's event will attract 3,000 to 5,000 people. And Cooper said he expects the event to quickly grow — in both car entries and attendance — with a downtown location.

As a member of the Barringtons legacy club I knew about this for a while but had to keep my mouth shut. Happy that the cat is now out of the bag. This event will rock!

Can't wait but until then we have at least the last installment of the Barrington concours in July. See you all at Makaray.

Don't forget next weekend is the Road America Historic HAWK Brian Redman races. The next few weeks are going to be very busy for sportscar fans starting with the Barrington Concours this weekend. Get the sunscreen ready.

They finally posted the entry list. I see alot of Historic F1 cars running along with a 917K and 312PB, a few 910's, the normal Can Am Mclaren's and a few Lola T70's. Also very interesting is a 1994 Mercedes old class 1 DTM car!!! I don't think we have seen many of these on this side of the pond.

Something cool but not on the list always shows up. They also have a special display every year that I can't find any information on. A cold front will move in on Friday making Saturday and Sunday nice up at Elkhart Lake.

A pretty good turnout at the Brian Redman Hawk historics. I did not see the 1994 Mercedes Class C DTM car but did see the Audi DTM car. It is owned by a guy from the Chicago area. A few Ferrari's and one of the original Greenwood monster Corvette's as it ran at Sebring in 1975. At Leman's in 1976 one of these cars was able to keep up with the prototype Porsche 936/76's until it tore up it's fuel tank due to a blown tire.

This weekend Road America has the ALMS/Grand Am event. The track is packed with more cars then I have ever seen at Road America on a race weekend!! Here are a few photos from today's Tech session.........I think I counted 7 458's racing in both ALMS and Grand Am at the track.
