Chicago Concours was cancelled due to sponsor issues and not going back to Barrington, so Concoursless for 2014. Geneva and Milwaukee wil have to do.
That is very sad.. Geneva Concours August 24th: Geneva Concours d'Elegance 2014 I enjoyed the Geneva event last year. I also made it to the Milwaukee Masterpiece event. That was a busy day!! To bad we have to wait all summer for a good concours in the area and they are both on the same day.....Real smart planning!!
wannaGOFAST - High-Speed Racing - Chicago 1/2 Mile Private Runway Shootout hopefully it will be warmer this year
Lots of track days with the extremexperience. I love these guys and booked a couple rides for Gingerman already
I wonder if he has sponsorship lined up for the 2015 event. I hope this happens as the location would be one of the best(even all the Chicago haters on this forum have to admit that)
Dave is working hard to get this Concours established and I know he will pull it off. In the mean time he is planning a number of smaller menus for 2014. So stay tuned.
I hope he can pull something off this year. I have to get over to the shop to see the progress on the two 6C 2500 Alfa's he is working on. I think one should be finished painting by now. David Cooper - Cooper Technica, Inc. - Chicago - Restoration of Vintage Automobiles
WHOA! FCA just announced a bomb shell: On June 22 Ferraris on Oakstreet are back!!!!! That is an awesome event where I had the pleasure of attending a few times with my own car. Can't wait to see this back on the calendar.
Here is the press release including information on events this year...I wish him the best of luck!!! The Concours in Chicago will be a great venue... Inaugural Concours dElegance of Chicago scheduled for June 2015. The Concours Series: Exciting Automotive Events in 2014. Its time to THINK SPRING (instead of cold and snow!). Wed like to give you an update about the great series of automotive events we are planning for the 2014-2015 seasons. As most of you know, we concluded the Barrington Concours dElegance event after a seven-year run in Barrington with a phenomenal show last July. The show broke our attendance records and provided our guests with an unparalleled opportunity to experience very rare vehicles that have never before been seen in the Midwest. As we announced, our plan is to move the Concours to Northerly Island in the City of Chicago. We are currently negotiating with several important sponsors for long-term multi-year commitments to the Concours. But organizing this move from Barrington to Chicago takes time. This has led us to postpone the inaugural Concours dElegance of Chicago until June 2015. In 2014 and 2015, during the run-up to the Concours dElegance, we are in the process of organizing an exciting series of automotive events on a smaller scale for our car enthusiasts, sponsors, and supporters. These include showcase displays of very special cars on loan from museums around the United States, visits to several important car collections in the Chicago area, presentations by interesting guest speakers, and a field trip to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, where we will have a behind-the-scenes special access tour. As soon as the schedule is set we will send out announcements to all of you. As always, these events benefit our Legends & Legacies Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to support local charities through an ongoing series of educational events focused on automotive history, design, and technology. This has been a big transition for us, and we are grateful for your support and continuing enthusiasm. Warm regards, David Cooper Co-Chair Patty Dowd Schmitz Co-Chair
A few pictures at Cooper Engineering today right next to downtown Chicago....The two Alfa 6C 2500's are coming along and one should be in paint soon. They are really going over the 1948 Mille Miglia car(car on the jig). He plans on having around 200 cars on Northerly Island in 2015. I hope they have a Alfa 8C 2300 and 6C 2500 class as there are many in the Great Lakes area. Looks like they will have a good turnout of vintage Ferrari's at the Milwaukee Masterpiece this year: Ferrari Class to feature more than 12 stunning examples "Since this is the Masterpiece's 10th anniversary, we are extending our best efforts toward expanding the number of vehicles in this class beyond the normal 6 to 8 cars, and expect to present 12 or more pre-1974 Ferraris on the lawn at Veterans Park," said Bob Budlow, who is co-chairing the Ferrari Class with Alan Boe. "Leon Flagg invited me to co-chair the Ferrari class at Masterpiece in 2009 knowing of my long term involvement with the Pebble Beach Concours as a Ferrari judge (1991 to 1998) and as Chief Class Judge for Ferrari at Pebble (1999 to 2012) when I retired," said Alan Boe, co-chair Ferrari Class. "I have also judged vintage Ferraris across the U.S. and internationally at such venues as Brussels, Belgium, and the Ferrari factory on the company's 60th anniversary in 2007," he said. Boe is also a published author on the subject of vintage Ferraris and writes for several automotive magazines. Boe said he has admired Ferraris "ever since I first saw one race at Road America in 1960. To me, Ferrari race cars from the 1950s and 1960s are the most exciting, beautiful, and symphonic competition cars ever built. As a result of my admiration for the race cars, I have over many years cultivated an equally appreciative admiration of Ferrari's road cars from the same era." Boe and Budlow are looking forward to the 2014 Milwaukee Masterpiece" I am sure Mr. Boe will have a few suprises to show.
I will be at the Milwaukee masterpiece this year. The past two years i've been in california while it was going on. Not complaining, but kind of annoyed because it's one of the best shows in wisconsin and it's a 10 min bike ride from my house. Glad I can make it! Are a lot of people coming from Chicago?
Alot of people do come up for the show from Chicago, but we also have a show in Geneva the same day. Many of the cars on display at the concours are also from Chicago.
AutoHistorica in Highland Park will be next weekend I think??. Also next week the BRIC Road America Historic Races is always worth the trip. The Ferrari Challenge is this week at Road America. Very busy up in Elkhart Lake this time of year!! Link to the almost secret Auto Historica event. It is worth the trip to this small event that always has some very nice cars on display if it happens this year??. Auto Historica XII Ticket Give-Away | Highland Park Historical Society
