Hi guys. I'm from the land down under (Australia) and own a red, late 1993 model 348tb. My son and I are contemplating visiting Chicago for 3 days from 26 to 29 April 2010. I've never been to Chicago (been to the US twice before and love the place and people).

I am posting early to seek the Chicago Ferrari fraternity's views on places to go - things to do, things to avoid, et al. Being early in the week for my visit, I presume I will miss any weekend Ferrari events.

Just got back from Australia...LOVED it!
Chicago has two main Ferrari dealers:
    Lake Forest Sportscars (lfsc.com)
    Continental Auto Sports (continentalautosports.com)

Both are located in the suburbs of Chicago and are easy to get to. Both have great selections and are staffed with friendly people (at least all the times I have been there). You can easily spend several hours at each.

Astated above, I will be in Chicago from 26-29 April so looks like I will just miss the Ferrari Expo - bummer.

This a great food town so if you like to eat bring a larger set of trousers to fly home in.
Post up some of your non-car interests and there is sure to be something to amuse you.
Nicest people on the planet here too.

depending on how old your son is and his interests, there are plenty of things to see. Museums, Aquarium, Cool Car dealers, Theater...etc

You will fall in love with Chicago, it's an intoxicating town. Don't forget to visit Lamborghini Chicago in Westmont, just a few miles down from Continental and always has quite a few fcars on display. I like looking at some spectacular homes in the area as well, Highland Park area, and Star Rd in Barrington is amazing to drive through.

    Must do's
    -Giordano's or Lou Malnati's Pizza
-Drive past Shedd Aquarium out on E Solidarity Dr to get the best view of the Skyline at night

Great stuff guys. Thanks and keep the tips coming. My son is 27 years old so he's an adult. Thought it would be fun seeing the City from the shoreline by taking the bicycle ride tour from Navy Pier. Has anyone done this.

If you're into classical music, you should definitely go see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I've seen them many many times and they are fantastic. You're in town for two great pieces!

    -27th- Brahms Violin Concerto
    -29th- Haydn Cello Concerto

Might as well go to Rush St. and party too. Gibson's is awesome for dinner/drinks.

As an architect I would highly recommend the architectural boat tour that travels the river through the downtown area pointing out the many notable buildings, and ends with dinner on the boat out on the lake, looking back at the skyline as the sun sets and all building lights come on. Very spectacular.

It's the architecture tour or cruise. Something along those lines. You'll be able to tell from the ticket booth.

I hope you guys turn on warmer weather for me when I visit in late April. Minus 18 at the moment sounds a trifle cold. It's currently around 80 degrees where I am here in Australia right now.

You will be happy to know we have had highs in the 50's and 60's for the last week. By the time you get here it should be warm.

What are you looking for in terms of nightlife? What type of scene?

Also yes baseball season starts up in April, I'd recommend catching a Cubs game while you're in town.

Nothing raunchy as my daughter will be joining me in Chicago.

Where is the Cubs stadium in relation to the Chicago CBD and what is the best way to get there ? I'll be in town from 26 to 29 April. Will there be any games on those dates.
