Guys - I have a 2010 458 Italia and just picked up a used MB car seat on eBay that said it was Babysmart compatible. I turned the car on - Passenger side Airbag was on (light in the center off) I placed the car seat on the passenger seat and the light went off as well as an audible tone showing the passenger side airbag was then OFF. Pictures and Videos say quite a bit so I did a short video in case anyone was in disbelief. For those interested, I hope this helps. Dislaimer - I have the car running so people wouldn't say - "it probably doesn't work when the car is running" so sorry for the crappy audio experience.
ha. not at all. I searched and didn't see any images or anything. If you look at the rest of the thread it seemed like others weren't convinced so I figured a quick vid would help. Technically I was backing up your #12 with a video.
Thanks for the info. Does it also turn the airbag off when you mount the baby seat the other way around ie. rear facing?
Thanks x 1000 can I ask you the specific model as I searched for "MB baby seat babysmart" but did not get that many hits on ebay....
Awesome news! Thanks for sharing. Even more excited for the spring. @Ash Patel let's take the kids out soon Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
I saw a few on Blocket, but not in sthlm only two. So waiting for a decent one to show up at a good price. Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
“Duo Plus” by Britax if I’m not mistaken. It’s coming up in 10 years old so I may pull the sensors out and use them under a newer booster seat this year.
Bought a Britax, Mercedes branded, with transponder and it did not work in my 458 -12. Meaning, nothing happened... Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
Alan I've contacted my tech to see what they/he can do. Ferrari officially will not touch / disable the pass airbag
Im also interested in how this turns out. My 3 yo boy is rather big (half my height and Im 6'4"!) and he was devastated when he found out he couldnt ride in Papa's "new" 458 spider. Im looking on eBay and the seat that's used for sale with baby smart seems too small for him. Also have racing seats.
Quick update I finally got the chance to pop out the sensors disks from the older babysmart car seat and double sided taped them to a new Peg Prego. Works like a charm to turn off the passenger airbag but now have a new booster seat. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure I wrote it here before, but I figured out that EU versions of the 458 don't have the on/off sensor for child seat. Case closed... Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
