Anyone here had one or more importantly had one made in leather at all ? Any ideas as I am getting no results from my web searches... All suggestions relating to this appreciated...
Send it to transcal in Livingston, they'll do a fab job but it'll cost you slightly. I doubt you would find what you are after by looking on the market. To me its a custom job. GL M
This is quite interesting because I've been trying to find a suitable seat myself for a 355. My Porsche seat fits reasonably well but then it looks a bit odd, but a decent option if you're stuck Don't know how old your child is but have you considered the airbag situation? I'm led to believe that they're bad news for small children. In the 993 there's an airbag deactivator bar below the passenger seat which the child seat plugged into which is useful and in the Maseratis there's a disabling switch. Don't think you can switch it off in a 355? Then you may have the model which didn't have passenger airbag, in which case no problem. Good luck with your search. You could also try recarochildseats.com
No cannot deactivate airbag but likewise checked it all out and apparently i am told it is ok if you have seat right back and child seat is forward facing.....front airbags are really only a no no if the child seat is rear facing or child sitting right up close to the dash Will try recaro and speak to Karl if he ever returns my call today .... eh Karl ;-)))))
I think Ferrari can deactivate the airbags, but at a cost I was told for the 360 it would cost ~ £1,500 for a new CPU unit to do it. However someone else told me that you could simply wire around the passenger airbag fuse to disable it. As long as you have the correct resistance on the connection, the computer thinks that the airbag will still work. One thing I do warn you about, is that Ive used child seats in my 360 a few times, and even with undermats they mark the leather
Talacrest disabled my 355's passenger airbag for a very modest sum (well actually nothing as they haven't sent me a bill yet!) but it was basically half an hour's labour plus a resistor to bridge out the airbag fail light or somesuch. Can of course be reversed in the future if required. Ask for Scott in service. I thought about just having the seat pushed right back- my 993's manual says this is fine, but then why to Porsche offer an airbag deactivation plug for the 993... In the end decided that the airbag deactivation was the only route my conscience would allow. Ferrari say that no children under 12 should travel in the front seat. And choose a seat that is less likely to mark the leather with sticky-out bits etc.
