Has anyone used a child seat or booster seat in a 575? I see that there is a rear tether point at the back of the 575 rear shelf but there does not seem to be a switch to turn off the passenger side air bag like in the later cars?

Mark- There was an optional switch to turn off the passenger side airbag, but it was not available on US spec 575Ms. I believe one owner retrofitted the switch or rigged something similar on a Euro spec car without the switch. You might search for it.

In theory, the right hand airbag will not activate unless the weight in the seat is at least 80 lbs. There is an extensive write-up in the owners manual starrting on page 2-92. Feeling apparently was that the 80 lb limitation in the US spec cars obviated the need for an on/off switch.

I use a booster for my 7 and 9 year olds, both weigh approximatly 50 lbs. To protect the seat I placed a small floor mat upside down and a towel over it, and than the booster on top so nothing scratches the leather. I try not to take the kids on the freeway because like most things in this car on any given day the Gremlins that came with the car move from component to component.

To make sure the seat belt activated I slammed on the brakes a couple of times and it seemed to work fine.

In the 550, I used to have to take Eric's right shoe off 'cause he used to work (and ruin) the window switch with his foot.

The sole affected the rubberized coating, the sock, not so much :)

I was told by my factory dealer that was not true. I use a booster, but inquired with Ferrari of Washington beforehand. They would not install the cut off and said the bag will always operate.

What kind of shifter have you got there? That does not look stock in the photos. I do not recall that shifter in your car when we met at the Richmond show in '07.

Was it that long ago :)

It was a custom extension the previous owner had made (He liked to keep a middle console with a bottle of wine there and needed to clear that). I had it removed.

I too thought the airbag would turn off between 1 and 35 pounds. No point in risky safety though.

Yea, you picked up a silver plate for 1st with your car at that show if I recall. I had just acquired mine that June. I came in second the following year to that great older 12, and won 1st the following year.

My daughter had been over 100 mph in my Dino 246 GT before she was a week old, but I do not remember which car I used to bring her and Jan home. Could have been the Dino.
