So I learnt a new Italian word today: sgommare, to smoke your tyres. :)

China upset that this car left some rubber on top of the ancient walls of Nanking.... Not really world news to me.

Tempest in a teacup. Maybe not the smartest PR move if Ferrari were actually directly involved, but this is really just a political football. The government loves to use these types of incidents for their own propangandic ends to stir up the masses when it works in their favor.

I've lived in Asia and worked in China extensively for the last decade and I can tell you ostentatious displays of wealth and power are as much a part of Chinese culture as the Great Wall.

Not the smartest of moves, BUT, I'm fairly certain no lasting damage occured. First good rain, pffft, gone.

Actually according to reports here in HK, it's not Ferrari who are in strife, but the local officials who gave the permissions for the run are in DEEP do-do. And that may not translate into good PR for Ferrari as there may be a perception that they left the locals to carry the can.

Oh well. As someone else said: much ado about nothing.

This isn't really going to hurt Ferrari. They will continue selling as many cars as possible with really long lines to get it. Ferrari is one of those companies that has such a large following that something stupid like this wont hurt them. At least thats how I see it.

That burn out probably did as much damage as people walking on it over a year. Multiply that by how old the wall is and the damage would amount to zilch.
