I am planning to attend the China GP this year and would like to know the names of some of the five star hotels that are recommended. Proximity to the race track and centrally located is important. I have heard that you need to be close to the metro rails, etc. Can someone provide me with some recommendations. Thanks!

sorry mate, you've got no chance whatsoever. the 5 star hotels are booked up a year in advance. last year i was lucky and got into the renaissance in pudong. and guess who was staying there? all the ferrari team management (brawn, todt etc etc). schumacher was staying at the st regis along with some other drivers. a few were at the four seasons and westin. best bet is to find a serviced apartment near the bund cos the hotels really are jammed. also, if you don't have tickets yet, don't buy them. get them at the gate, there will be thousands for sale at MASSIVE discount... I paid RMB1000 at the gate for a RMB3600 ticket.
