Bravo Kimi and Bravo Fernando. Great drives from both guys to capitalize on Lewis' brain fart. Too bad Fernando's car was so heavy with fuel, had he not been stuck behind Felipe for the first 20 laps he would have been able to stay closer to Lewis and Kimi and really push Kimi after Lewis' trip to the pit lane litterbox. In any case, Brazil should be really exciting and with the longer wheelbase Ferrari, I'm afraid that they might not be well suited for Interlagos. In any case, if Fernando can win and Kimi come in second (Hell, I'll root for Felipe to come in second and/or third), Fernando will get the WDC. Scandal or not, I just want him to beat Lewis.

Good job today Kimi. Let's see that kind of driving for all of 2008.

I hope Massa will be a bigger help in Brazil than in China. He needed to pass Alonso to let KR make up as many points as possible, as it stands now, KR needs help to win the WDC title because he can't win it just by winning the race in Brazil. I know it is easier say then done, for anyone to pass a driver like FA, but if FM ever really wants to be consider in the same breath as FA, KR and even LH, he needed to be able to do just that. IMO, His FLs in the closing minutes of the race is simply useless but just to pad his own stats.

Have you ever seen any of Schumacher's classic gaffe's? I think LH has a long way to go to catch up to them. It was one of the strange things about a guy who seemed so technically savvy on the track; he could make some real boneheaded decisions.

That was one of the most retarded decisions ever by a team. Why leave him out when he's basically riding on rims? Still, he lost control of the car going into the pits and that's why he ultimately lost. I have no idea why they tried to block Kimi...I will have to assume that was a youthful mistake. I remember Schumacher once saying that he wanted to win the races that clinch the title for him. I'm thinking that ego played into Hamilton's decision-making and his immaturity got the better of him. Life is all about making good decisions.

Whatever, it gives Kimi an outside shot at the championship

Wow...your response to his poor judgement seems almost...orgasmic?

Like I said in another Hamilton hatchet-thread, if you guys hate the guy just get on with it. You don't need to justify your feelings. It comes off as a bit jaded and jealous.

He still knew how to win with an ill performing car though, you can't take that away from him.

Everyone happy that every team now has points except McL?

... Oh, and all the new customer teams next year -- so McL won't be at the other end, but they might share a double garage with their customer. ;)

But something about Hamilton's retirement bothers me. The marshals looked like they'd never seen an open wheel car before. With all that ineffectual prodding at the car, you'd expect Ron to have been tossing headsets at them and running down pit lane cursing. But he took it very calmly.

Almost as if he knew it was coming.

So now the championship goes to the final round. Just like the FIA wanted.

I was hoping Massa would get around Alonso, but do the numbers. Phil put option tires on at lap 26. Alonso came out on cold hards on lap 32 -- right during the infamous "graining" cycle of the options.

And consider: Ferrari already has the WCC. If Phil gets no points at all, he'd take 4th in the WDC. If he'd passed Alonso and won in Brazil, he'd have 98 points -- which would give him 4th in the WDC, even if nobody else got any points.

Phil couldn't help the marque or himself -- only hurt Alonso.

They were on dry tires, on a wet track with a single dry line. Was it worth banging wheels with temper boy to ... well, for what?

If they finish KR, FA, LH in Brazil, the WDC will still be LH, FA, KR.

It's not who can win the WDC in Brazil, it's who can lose it.

Besides: after the FIA ruling, all four front runners are in Ferraris anyway. :p

Of course it was; he simply **** the bed. Could have SLOWED DOWN after KR passed him and taken his time; its about accruing points at this stage of the season for the championship leader.

In hindsight, maybe if he had gotten the 10 spot grid penalty from Japan he would have had a different race strategy and finished in the points.....

Forza Ferrari!! What an amazing race. I'm glad that they couldn't push Hamiltons car out of the gravel, even if it was the quickest way to get his car out of the dangerous zone, it would have been just too much luck for him to make a fatal mistake without having to retire again like at the Nürburgring.

Drive of the race imho: SEBASTIAN VETTEL! From 17 to 4 in a Toro Rosso, how amazing is that?! Gaining 13 positions is something we normally see from the top drivers when they have to start at the back, not something we'd expect from a driver/team being at home at the back end. A pity Alonso didn't have to retire, Ferrari 1+2 plus Vettel on 3 would have been a perfect result and be the first time that top three were all Ferrari powered cars :D
