Rain Forecast! Rain could fall on the third annual Chinese Grand Prix this weekend, according to local forecasts around Shanghai. It was cloudy but warm and dry in the country's biggest city throughout Tuesday morning and afternoon, and Shanghai is expected to enjoy similar weather throughout the week, including qualifying on Saturday. Darker clouds and scattered thunder storms could move overhead by the morning of race day, however, according to the English-language Chinese TV channel CCTV9. Source GMM CAPSIS International ****** A race on that track with rain... it is going to be incredible!
This is my first dedicated year in watching F1 and I have to say that the one race that has stood out to me this year was the Turkish gp: the one race so far this year in which it has rained during the race, damn it was exciting! Bring on the rain!
I agree with that!! Rain is a great leveler, and give a chance to drivers with 'inferior' cars to show what they can do. It certainly shuffle the pack!
It starts in less than 4 hours. Going to get some popcorn and drinks ready. Darn, this should be one of the better races of the years. I have no fingernails left. Rats!!! Go Michael Schumacher & Felipe Massa May Ferrari win in the rain.
According to weather.com, it is lightly raining in Shanghai. If it continues to rain, hopefully it won't take too long for a dry line to form. Otherwise, I can only hope for an Alonso DNF. 1.5 hours to go. P.S. I saw the other thread about the race, but since it has only one post, and in the title it doesn't say "Spoiler" I might as well start a new one so no one reads something about the race that they don't want to. GO FERRARI!
But wait! According to formula1.com it is dry in Shanghai. YES! Weather.com yet again proves to be useless.
China has that long long straights. if it stays dry, FA has a less powerful engine. swinging into MS's way. 1 hour 20 mins to go.
I think in this case, you actually want a full wet race if you want MS to win. While it is true that in wet, the BS are not up to par with the Mich. But MS has his car setup with high down force with full wets as oppose to FA, who has a lower down force car with intermediates. Since the cars have been in parc ferme, no adjustments were made since then, which means FA will have the advantage in the dry, at least until the first pit stop. At least this is my impression and understanding after last night's broadcast here in the States.
That is correct, but hopefully, assuming the race will be dry, the extra wing on Michael's car can gain him time in the twisty parts to offset the time lost on the straight.
But that also means slower top speed which means FA should be able to pass him with ease if he comes up behind him as the track is very pass-friendly as it is more than wide enough. IMO, I think it is to MS's advantage if the race is a full wet race as FA will have to brave it in the early stage of the race until he pits, and will probably end up with having to make one extra stop as to MS because of it.
Haha, word man. I was only expressing some wishful thinking. No matter the weather conditions or downforce settings, I really want to see MS win.
I say Michael makes it to 4th place by turn 1. But soon begins getting passed by all of the Michelin runners.
MS is definately the best on the Bridgestones, but still losing ground to FA. this is not looking good. Maybe once a dry line starts to form a little bit more he can start to claw back some of that lost time. Mark Update: Way to go Massa, keep picking them off.
