Well, the teams have begun setting up at the Shanghai circuit. The first ever Chinese Grand Prix is almost upon us! In what looks like a last minute descision before this weekend's race, Pantano has been dropped from the Jordan team and Glock will be replacing him for the rest of the season.
James, I am here in Shanghai for the Race and Business are you going to the Race? Let me know we can meet. Tony
Regrettably I'm not. Take lots of photos for those of us that can't be there! Fortunately I will be going to the Melbourne Grand Prix next year.
I should be getting to the track around noon today. I've had dinner with some of the mechanics on Monday and Tuesday. They're looking forward to the race.
The Seattle, WA contingent should arrive at the track around 11am today, (Friday). We are sitting in the Diamond section....no cell phone...not sure how we can link up...will any of you be attending the Ferrari Club dinner tonight? Sorry I don't have more info...just following this tour group we are with. Dave
Just let me know where to meet (I never got the contact info on who to pay) and I'll be there. I'll pm you my cell number. Working at home until 10 AM this morning and then I'm heading over there.
I just got an email from one of the mechanics I know on the Ferrari F1 team, looks like several of them will be available on Monday for drinks and dinner. Let me know if you want to join us. Not sure when or where, but the plan is in motion...
Okay, just got a note back from Leonardo, looks like he wants authentic Chinese. He's going to give me a headcount from the team on Sunday on who wants in. How's this for an exclusive FChat event?
LOL! The only stupid question is the one you don't ask..... "Does moving races to venues where know one knows what's going on, but still buys tickets make Bernie a richer man??????" Yes! Especially if the government doesn't worry so much about those pesky advertising restrictions! The machine rolls on.......... I just hope they can find enough Pit Girls, after drowning all those babies all these years............
Amen to that! Speaks for Michael to answer all that nonsense, funny. And we thought the British journalists ask the same old stupid questions. Time for new silly questions. All you guys at the track: Please take pics and post them here! I envy all of you. I'm looking so forward to this new race, but I guess I'll tape it and watch in my usual Sunday early morning slot.
Just got an email from a friend at Ferrari. Schumacher's car dying at the end of the pit lane yesterday during the first session was just a minor electronics issue and nothing to worry about. Off to the track, no time to post pics...
Hi Pete, The thing is, male children grow up to look after their parents. The girls leave their families when they marry and look after their husband's parents, leaving the girl's parents to fend for themselves. I live and work in Shanghai. The guy I share an office with came to the office hours after the birth of his daughter. You would have thought his dog had a litter of puppies. I was so happy for him, but he looked totally despondent (sp?). If you are open to adopting a child and you aren't picky as to sex or race, come to China and adopt a girl. They are often left in public places where they will be found quickly, or just left to die. They even practice selective abortion, although I think the government is trying to put the brakes on that one. It is very sad. And, I don't understand it. I don't think I ever will. Some folks chalk it up to Karma. But, I still haven't found a way to justify it. SpiceGlider (Mrs. Judge4re)
Mrs. Judge4re, No matter what reason (there is no justifiable reason) it is just so sad, that a brand new life never gets a chance. If there is no after life ... then that's it! When you read your comment: The thing is, male children grow up to look after their parents. ... that just makes out the parents to be so incredibly selfish that they are prepared to kill a completely innocent life so they get looked after when old. I have children. You do not have children for yourself, but instead you live for them, to help them grow, create a life of quality, etc. ... it is hard, frustrating but ultimately rewarding and has nothing to do with 'I need a carer when I get old BS', ie. they view breeding as creating slaves to themselves! Shame on this tradition, shame Pete ps: I guess we should leave this thread to the racing ... and to be quite honest it is depressing me even thinking about it. I have a lovely 4 year old daughter ... I'd give my life in 1/2 a second for hers ... as any parent should.
Heh, it's funny you should say that. I know someone who's father, when they were less than a year old, became jealous of the attention the mother gave to the child and started criticising the mother for it, because she was 'neglecting' him. He even went so far as to drug the child to keep it quiet, so the mother wouldn't go and nurse it. That same father later in life had this attitude about his kids: If he was going to do anything for the kids, what were they going to do for him in return? The same applied to the wife. If he did someone for them, and what they did in return wasn't up to his expectations, he'd "punish" them by taking away this, taking away that, or threatening to do so. So much for unconditional love, huh?
Hi Jay, Hank, here in Burbank, CA, USA. Sorry, my F1 fan friend. I've been getting up at 4:30 AM on Sundays more times than I wish to remember. Of course, after some fresh ground coffee and a bit of toast, all was well. Tomorrow, it's 10:30 PM!!! - - No wake up alarm for me - - as for you - - have a good bottle of red and stay up late!!! By the way, I love your town. I did production sound on the film "Tommy Boy", which we shot on location in Toronto a few years ago, and I had a flat in the Sutton Place hotel. Wonderful city, people, music, and GREAT food. Thank you Toronto. Enjoy, Hank
