I have noticed lately the auto choke is not working on start up?
It's winter here at the moment and it's cold so I would imagine it should be coming on more now than ever

    Any advice please

Choke on a modern car -- I don't think so. Those went the way of the dinosaur years ago. All done by computers these days based on water and air temperatures to richen up the mixture.

The 360 has a higher idle than the 800 that I'm used to. Mine does go up by 200 RPM or so when cold.

Check the sensors.. English Rebel on another post noted the water temperature sensor in front of the oil filter. Is the temp gauge working well? Computer should sense the engine is cold and increase the RPM, mixture, etc.

Okay now I see what you are asking -- cold idle. Mine idles at 1200-1300 RPM until warm (not sure what that temperature is) and then drops back to 1000 RPM. As Curt says it could be an erratic or bad water temperature sensor. What is your water temperature gauge reading when fully warmed up on a hot day but not idling in traffic?

The coolant temp sensor that the ECU uses to control engine functions is not the one that feeds the temperature gauge. This one needs to be read using a scan tool like the SD2.

Joe- What you are describing is the very common rough start with late model Ferraris that seems to be caused by injector bleed-down, sometimes cured with a can of fuel injector cleaner like Techron. Try waiting a few seconds after the check ok lamp illuminates and see if that helps. If not, a double start nearly always works. Normal start, shut her down immediately when she catches, and restart. Should work normally then. Your tech may be able to find a fix.

I may be incorrect on this, but I thought the higher idle on start up was part of the emissions control system. Colder engines are dirtier to the air quality than warm ones and I thought the higher idle was part of that.

    Interesting

My car on start up used to idle at 2200rpms for around 1-2 minute than come down to 1200rpms. That was in summer

Now it is winter the start up idle is much less, around 1200rpms. I would of thought being colder it would need to idle higher until it warms up?

    thoughts?
