Why am I just now becoming aware of this event?

 

My guess is poor marketing........

It was limited to 100 cars. The donation to do the drive this year was $500 per car.

 

Although I didn't attend last years event, some of my close friends who did told me it was over run by people who didn't sign up for the event and it caused major problems.

I can't comment on the "lack of marketing" this year, but I do know the demand to attend this years event was so high that Armen had his quota of 100 cars filled in two days. I believe he also had a very large stand by list of people who knew about the event ahead of time and weren't able to attend because the CHP simply can't handle more than 100 cars.

However, as far as I'm concerned a big KUDOS goes to Armen and his family for an excellent job of orchestrating this major event; which generated quite a bit of money for the foundation by the way.

KUDOS also goes to the CHP officers who supported the event by escorting the cars on two different routes, they did a fantastic job and some of those guys really know how to handle a car

Definitely one of the best events/drives of the year! Also, we had a nice caravan up from OC.
