Indeed. Since Ferrari banned him from driving Ferrari press cars I never thought he would buy a Ferrari after that. That car must be insanely good but him making the move. Too bad he sold his GT3RS 4.0.
Always interesting to hear what Chris is parking in his garage, thanks! A good car is still a good car regardless of who sells it... CH
I think Chris is one of the few good automotive journalists. And he is smart -- combining love of performance cars with a little financial speculation.
Bought mine the same week, same colour, from the same place.........spooky. Who knows, maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and be able to drive properly and string a sentence together.
No respect for CH whatsoever. Bad mouth the company left and right then turns around and buys their products? Have some dignity.
This I just don't get. Having an issue with well recorded media manipulation is very different to disliking a company's product. Some would say that, with respect to the product, it shows an absolute impartiality.
+1 There are some people on this board who believes everything that Ferrari does is perfect and can't be faulted. While most auto manufacturers would "tune" their cars before a magazine road test, Ferrari is the worst of them all. Ferrari makes great cars nowadays, no doubt, but dealing with their PR people can be one's worst nightmare!
I believe the 599 will be a future classic, 611 bhp Enzo derived engine in a front engined GT cars, its shades of the immortal 365GTB/4, look at how that car is looked at today.
Chris Harris tells it like it is. Some people don't like it when you look behind the curtain and then tell. Porsche keeps giving him cars to drive even though he doesn't always follow their rules either... CH
I really enjoy reading/watching Chris Harris. For the most part, the guy is spot on. Also, he can drive, which helps his credibility tons. All in all, he's just a car guy who can also handle a pen/computer very well indeed. Good for him, would love a 599 myself.
said it many times and i will say it again, my 599 was the fastest and scariest quick even after driving the latest 458 and FFs, I always regret selling it and not having the HGTE package. I think stock is too soft and verge on dangerous. Would be interesting to see a good driver like him save his first understeer diving into a turn at full speed.
Dont really see the irony. He never said he didnt like the cars, just the company was hard to deal with.
"Good value is a term listed in the man maths lexicon of delusional car-purchasing phrases. It can apply to any car of any price." I really enjoyed this statement. Looks like he got a great car though.
If people are going to talk crap about him buying a Ferrari, then by the same standards, anyone who does not like communism has to think Laos is a **** ugly country and no one is allowed there. You can hate where something comes from, but you can still like the glossy exterior. He's a bigger man for not acting like a baby and getting into it with Ferrari.
OMG, the irony is right. Guess the brand new GT3 RS 4.0 isn't all that great after all. Somehow I doubt this will be mentioned in Excellence.
Well I know what happened to Chris, maybe. Way back in 2006 Porsche introduced the new 997 Turbo. So the editior at Autocar where Chris happened to be toiling away at the time sent him off to drive the newest Porsche. Meanwhile Ferrari PR being rather sharp to what Porsche was up to decided to get the journalists into their new 599 GTB at the same time. Of course Andrew Frankel who knows his way around at Ferrari gets the plum assignment - drive the new 599 GTB. Porsche likes what Chris writes and Ferrari likes what Andrew writes; so much so that they invite him back again and again to write about anything and drive everything that Ferrari can hand him the keys to. Lunch out of town? No problem, just bring the car back by 6pm. Then much later Andrew reminds Chris how much fun the 599 GTB is and the rest is history. Of course Chris also has this addiction to serial car buying... CH
